Also, I'm a 29 year old male. Will I feel out of place in a Yoga class?

Thanks

YES! I was anyway, now speaking as a qualified teacher on the subject, but stuck with it and the benefits are well documented by others. Get to a class see if its for you, beginners anxiety is always gonna be there with something new 'its normal'!

Were lose clothes, cotton sweats are great and some of the poses are not very modest so shorts are not the best per say. Secondly most of the people are laid back so if you have a martial arts background and are taking it for increasing your flexibility then you may have to tone down your personality. Yoga is still predominately female but it has changed some with more males taking it. They will start out with very mild warm ups and stretching before going into postures and poses. There are different types of Yoga and some are more vigorous than others and also some use props as well. Enjoy and don't worry, the benefits far outweigh any uncomfortableness and in a month or less you will be one of the group. Enjoy!
