pick an upscale one that doesnt break the budget, eat sushi and drink tea (or saki) and be happy! its your day! and you could have a cake that is red and black or other asian inspired colors and do other things that are asian inspired.
BE CREATIVE!!! thats what makes the wedding MEMORABLE!!!

I do not think it's cheesy at all. I think the theme will carry over nicely from the gardens to the restaurant. The gardens will give a nice, open atmosphere. The restaurant will give a more close, personal feel. Did you send the invitations written on small rice paper scrolls?

No it makes more sense. Having a Japanese wedding then some other culture for the reception would be a bit strange. Much better to keep it all one theme.

No! Why would you think that would be cheesy? I think it sounds GREAT!! It would be, as you said, carrying over the theme from the wedding site.
Yes, have it at the Japanese restaurant! Sounds fun.
Good luck!

No, I think that would be fine.
If you really want to go with the theme, your wedding dress could be a komono. Make it out of white cloth with some pattern to it (i.e. a raised pattern in white), etc. The whole Geisha makeup thing. Maybe overkill on the theme, but I would think it would be really unique and interesting.

It would totally be a cool theme for a wedding. You could even get some of those fortune cookies that are special for weddings. Oh, and get those "take out" boxes as favor holders! I'd so be into it!

I wouldn't think it's cheesy if the bride and or groom were japanese or there was some love of japanese that's understandable - you guys lived there, moving there, speak it, etc.
Not sure if I think its cheesy otherwise, but it's always good to have a theme...

i don't think it is cheesey!!!. it stays with the theme and ther are many great upscale japanese restaurants around, try to find one that has japanese and a sushi bar. It's your day girl! you get to have whatever you want! The only people you need to worry about making happy is you and your husband! everyone else should be happy they were invited to spend such a special day with you!
