We have no physical proof, and yes, it could be fake. But you don't know if it's fake, so it might be true.
I highly doubt that if a christian showed you physical proof that you would worship them. I'm sure you would still doubt (that's not a criticism - most humans are like that, even in the bible, such as the disciple thomas).
Don't waste your time trying to believe something you don't want to believe in. Live your life like a good person, so that in the offchance that god does exist, he will overlook your non-belief.

If you want physical proof then the answer is no. Rightly or wrongly cameras and television did not exist at the time of his birth. But I believe that it is a very reasonable supposition - it is a bit like does an electron exist - we suspect it does because we observe the effects.
Please note that I am NOT here making any claims about Jesus being the Son of God. I am merely establishing that someone known as Jesus existed and led a sect within Judaism in the first part of the first century
As it is a major question you will not be surprised that are a number of steps to establish it:
1. Many people recognise Jesus today and there is an unbroken link back to the fourth century when Christianity became the official religion of the Roman empire
2 In the fourth century the universal creed were agreed and we have full copies of the bible from then. The differences in style, language and message of the different books make it extremely unlikely that someone just sat down and wrote it then.
3 From the late first century to the fourth we have a myriad of letters from Christian fathers which are unlikely to have been forged and which refer in detail to the scriptures. We also have references from non Christian sources.
4 We have the main letters of Paul written in the middle of the first century which include a reference to a roman governor which can be verified independently
5 Paul's main letters include concerns about people who were teaching about Jesus in a different way. These controversies make it very unlikely that he created Christianity. The trail leads back to Jerusalem and to Peter and James who is referred to as the brother of our Lord.
6 Now for the crunch moment. What is the simplest assumption - that someone known as Jesus existed with a band of followers or that someone else (unknown) made it up?

When you are standing face to face with Jesus.....I guess you will have your proof!! And the bible is enough for me. If you really read the bible and study it, you would see that there are things in there that no mere man could have known. It had to of came from a higher power and the higher power that they named was Jehovah it must be. Not all the writers would have gave the credit to him....think about it!

Hi,
He is briefly mentioned by the Roman historians Tacitus, Suetonius, Pliny and Josephus. That's how most figures of history are remembered. Can anyone show physically Cyrus the Great, Hammurabi, or countless other figures who are documented but blown away in the dust?

Do you dismiss the existence of other historical figures?
There is no larger ancient body of manuscript evidence in the history of mankind, than the papyri and parchment manuscripts of the New Testament. With over five thousand actual Greek manuscripts, and numerous other manuscripts in four other languages, there are about twenty-four thousand available manuscript texts for the New Testament.
No other body of ancient work comes close. No one really disputes Julius Caesar's The Gallic Wars (10 manuscripts remain, with the earliest one dating to 1,000 years after the original autograph). No one really disputes Pliny the Younger's Natural History (7 manuscripts; 750 years elapsed). Or Thucydides' History (8 manuscripts; 1,300 years elapsed). No one disputes Herodotus' History (8 manuscripts; 1,350 years elapsed). No one really disputes Plato (7 manuscripts; 1,300 years elapsed). No one really disputes Tacitus' Annals (20 manuscripts; 1,000 years elapsed.) Homer's Iliad, the most renowned book of ancient Greece, is the second best-preserved literary work of all antiquity, with 643 copies of manuscript support discovered to date. In those copies, there are 764 disputed lines of text, as compared to 40 lines in all the New Testament manuscripts.
Several great minds researched the data and became convinced of the veracity of the Gospel accounts. Josh McDowell was a professor who set out to debunk Christianity. After doing 700 hours of research, he concluded that the evidence demanded a verdict. He became a Christian, and then penned a book with the title, "Evidence that Demands a Verdict."
Simon Greenleaf was a lawyer, and a founder of the Harvard Law School. He set out to evaluate the biblical accounts hoping to refute their claims. After exhaustive research, he determined that the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ was overwhelming, and would stand scrutiny in a court of law.
Further, all of the eyewitnesses who gave these accounts (except for John) testified to Jesus' existence, ministry, death, burial, and resurrection, and died gruesome deaths because of their testimony.
Each had been given an opportunity to recant their testimony so they could live longer instead. Yet they each died with the testimony of Jesus on their lips, knowing in Whom they believed.
During the Watergate scandal of the 70's, the conspirators couldn't keep their lie together for only two weeks. None of the principals were threatened with death, yet they began ratting each other out hoping for leniency.
No one will go to their death willingly for a lie that they know to be a lie. The Apostles died. This adds credibility that cannot be bought or discarded.
And yet people still deny the accounts of Jesus found in the Bible. Amazing.

Hey Reaper,
Can you show us without a doubt, who were your ancestral lineage during the first century of Christ? Can you give physical proof where they lived and where they were buried? Not many can do that without years of research, even then, the written records of fallible men must be relied on.There is much historical evidence that people of Jesus' day believed he existed. Show us physical proof that he was just their wishful thinking.

Not really. There is plenty of evidence for the existence of people who lived before Jesus.
But all Jesus has is a couple of accounts from people who never even met him.

I agree completely. David Koresh could have been the new Jesus had the American government not murdered him. What I mean to say is that any man with charisma can lead people because people are like sheep, they want someone to look up to and follow....they don't just want it they NEED IT. as sad as that may seem.
So my opinion is that Jesus may have existed but I think he started out as a cult leader that grew into present day christianity. He probably had alot of charisma and "leadership" qualities. ....His legend continued on through word of mouth and writings, which were translated, changed and manipulated by man to give you Catholicism, Protestants, Mormons...all of the branches of christianity.
The SAME goes for any other HUMAN religion started by Man whether it's Islam, Judaism, Buddhism....SCIENTOLOGY!
Scientology was started by a HU-MAN....and look how looney those people are considered.

There is no credible evidence he existed at all. Even though the concensus among historian is that 'jesus' did exist, it really isn't based on anything substantial, which is why there is no concensus on any aspect of his life.
IMHO, the evidence does not suggest the Jesus legend was rooted in a real historical man, instead, it suggests the Jesus legend originated as an allegorical story about the plight of the Jewish people during the first Jewish wars (which ended in the destruction of the temple in 70CE).

What do you want? His high school yearbook? Physical proof of a person who supposedly lived 2000 years ago would be asking quite a bit. A legitimate historical record should be enough. Of course, there isn't that, either.
