This question does not paint a pretty picture. I lost a dear person not to long ago and I am trying to find out how long would a body take to decompose in certain conditions. The body was embalmed. It is buried in a air tight vault with a locked casket. The ground completely freezes in the winter as it is buried in Maine. The summers can get very hot here as well. If anyone has any information, that would be great. Please respect my feelings and not post rude or cruel comments. Thank you very much.

There is absolutely no way to say how long it will take for the body to decompose. There are numerous factors that affect the rate of decomposition, such as type of casket (steel, wood, stainless steel, copper, etc.) type of vault, how well the person was embalmed, what type of emblaming fluid was used, I could go on and on. The possibility of the body being completely intact is just as good as the possibility of severe decomposition. Again, no way to know other than by exhumation.

Even in Maine, the frostline doesn't go six feet down.

You would be best advised to let this go.
Think about something else.
