If you want Irish coffee....

.... you have to use Whiskey (Jameson is best I think)

NOT whisky or brandy or anything else

Some restaurants have other names for these , like napolean cofee or whatever....
Have you sussed how to get the cream to float in that dense white layer on top yet? (rather than mix in)

You can but it does not have the same taste. Why not try different whiskys? Jamesons is fantastic and so is Teachers (both irish) Love my irish coffees...I need it more then ever now because of the horrible changes in the weather! Ireland has turned into a hurricane blackspot at the moment ha ha!

The cream will float better if there is some sugar or honey in the coffee. If you use brandy as opposed to Irish Whiskey it is not technically Irish Coffee is it?
It is a coffee royale, but I wont tell if you don't.

An Irish coffee is only Irish with whiskey (witn an "e" - whisky without an "e" is Scotch)

You can make a liqueur coffee with most spirits including vodka, brandy, whiskey, Cointreau etc.
