As long as this isn't a frequent thing, he will be fine! He MAY get a little loose stool....but that will resolve...

Dogs do not get hardening of the arteries like people do... In fact, heart attacks can be found incidentally on autopsy...without any previous history of heart problems.. Their hearts simply have a different blood supply compared to ours - we get one major artery blocked and we get a heart attack... Dogs have several collateral arteries so the heart can still be supplied with blood and oxygen should one artery clog... To put it simply :)

Christmas eve last year, we had two racks of barbecue ribs that my husband forgot in the oven. They cooked over night and we smelled them first thing in the morning when we got up!

I turned off the oven, let them cool and put them in the trash because they were ALL dried out!

We came home four hours later and my dog Maggie Mae Suzanne Yvette kicked-in-the-butt-by-love Jackson, had EATEN TWO FULL RACKS OF RIBS AND LICKED ALL THE SAUCE FROM THE PAN~

The worst part was, as she was licking the pan, it must have been sliding, because she put her paws in the pan to keep it from moving.

How did we figure THAT out? Barbecue sauce paw prints all over the house! On the carpet.... tile... and they WERE everywhere! She patrols the house from one room the next while we are gone.

She also thinks she's smarter than us by getting out of the recliner when she hears the key in the door, BUT... it's rocking, warm and THAT day had barbecue paw prints on it!

WHAT A MESS~!

All of the above is to illustrate the point that it won't kill your dog to give it a tid-bit. If Maggie Mae lived through THIS ordeal... your doggie will too!

*note to self* Remove all garbage before leaving to visit! LOL

Some fat is OK. Their coats and skin require some oil. And yes they can suffer from the same diseases that we do and the oil will go to their blood. No excessive amounts of fat. But they do love it. As long as he is getting a good share of veggies he will have enough anti-oxidants to combat the fats.

No but you may give him diarrhea, too much fat is not good for dog because they have a hard time digesting it.

if your dog is lazy and never exercises, and you feed him fat all the time, then yes it will. its fat. excess is always bad. but if its a fairly normal dog, then you'll probably been fine, dogs nutritional needs are different.

he might get he runs tho... but thats another problem altogether.
