I'm convinced this is not a serious question. This is someone trying to stir up controversy.
There is no way someone can be this ignorant! Is there?
I can't even begin to list the ways in which I've helped and assisted others over the years. Both with financial contributions and work done, and here someone is not only telling me that I can't POSSIBLY have done that because I don't believe in the giant imaginary friend, but that my life is void and black? *SOB* I'm so sad that there is such ignorance in the world.
Like many of the other people here who replied to this possibly fake question, I am much more concerned with the well-being and happiness of others, here, NOW on this planet and in this lifetime than many 'religious' selfish people I know.
I spend more time thinking about what is happening to other beings on this earth and LESS time worrying about my own individual life, needs and 'salvation'.
To the person asking this question I say this:
If you are really asking this question seriously, then you are absolutely one of the most ignorant people EVER. GET A LIFE !!!!!!!!!!
Are you completely without a brain? Everything about your question, and the subsequent 'edit/addition' makes NO SENSE in light of the fact that many many atheist (and other believers who are not christian) do charitable work and live kindly all the time. Ugh YOU ARE AN IDIOT

I do charity work. I have worked at a homeless shelter dishing food, an animal shelter walking pets, I donate to the police and firemen every year. I give homeless people on the streets food. I don't even eat meat because the thought of killing an animal for my pleasure is horrible. You are asuming that moral fiber and religion are the same but you are terribly wrong. I have known more atheists that do the world a service than most God fearers. Most doctors are atheist! Anyway, Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!

My mom does all the time. Just because you don't believe in a God doesn't mean that you have no compassion for others and want to help. She spends a lot of time volunteering at an assisted living facility and has helped in food kitchens. All her old clothes she donates to local charities. Charity work is not for the Christians only that's a pretty narrow minded way to think. I know plenty of so called good Christians who don't do anything to help anyone but themselves. Yes I'm a Christian and Merry Christmas to you. :)

I have helped feed the poor on Thanksgiving. I've donated my time and money to many charitable causes. I've been a volunteer big brother. I've volunteered at animal shelters and rescued many dogs that were loose in my city.
So, to answer your questions, atheism is not sad, lifeless, black, void, loveless, etc. Nice try though. Keep perpetuation that myth and maybe you'll get some more followers in your cult.
Silly christians, myths are for kids.

No, there are many atheists who give to charities, help the poor and do humanitarian works. Many social workers are atheists.
Being religious is not a pre-requisite to being a nice person, loving the world and other people and enjoying love in this life.
Remember that many awful things in this world are done in the name of religion by religious people as well.
While you should delight in the joy that your religion brings you, you should also remember that you are best off concentrating on making sure that you are virtuous, generous, loving and caring; don't go being judgmental about other people.
That is God's job, not yours.
Peace.

Animals show love and caring, some even adopt young of other species to raise.
I love others deeply and often go out of my way to be polite and nice to others. Then there are the various charities that I contribute to, including purchasing food for local homeless shelters.
Finally, no, lack of faith is not sad, lifeless or doomed. If you need faith to help you to live, I personally pity you.

....wow. I'm even shocked someone really believes this, but here goes.
Three days a week I volunteer my time to helping animal shelters (walking dogs, cleaning cages, sorting adoption papers).
Every few months I donate some money to abused women shelters.
At the grocery store, I always fill out the tabs for donations for whatever drive is ocurring at the time. I donate canned goods to food drives, or buy the bag of groceries most stores offer to donate.
Online, I am a sympathetic listener and try to solve problems or give comfort to those I come across.
I am very loved, and very in love with someone. I have had problems in the past I am working through, but that does not mean my entire life is WORTHLESS.
Happy Winter Solstice. ^.~

I hate to disappoint you when your argument is so sweet and naive, but love is a combination of responses to hormones and pheromones, and a cultural and social phenomenon. Love is useful for survival and propagation of the species. Sorry if I seem unromantic.
Since I'm here though... my parents, brother and I are all atheists. We are not wealthy by any definition of the word, yet we volunteer our time and as much money as we can spare to people in need and even animal shelters. We do this because most members of modern society are selfish and don't care if others are harmed as long as they prosper individualy. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do, not because we are told we *must* love our neighbors and be charitable in thanks to some creator so that we may be rewarded after we die.

One of the largest philanthropic organizations in the world is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (atheists).
The Red Cross was started by an atheist.
I was a Peace Corps Volunteer and many of my fellow PCV's were non-religious/non-believers.
EDIT: If you believe animals do not have the instinct to care, you will have to explain why chimps have nearly drowned to save other chimps (they are not good swimmers).
Or why they have gone to great lengths to help other species (such as humans, birds, and cats).
