They were created for the purpose of power and control over humans. Am I right?

You are not. Well, not entirely.

They are all established by men, except for the Catholic Church, which was founded by Jesus Himself.

Where you are wrong is your last sentence. Religion was not created for the purpose of power and control. Unfortunately, that's what they degrade to when love of God and others isn't a central focus.

But that's not what Jesus established the Church for.

What Luther or Henry or Mary Baker Eddy had in mind when they founded their religions, I dunno.

You are right and wrong. While religion was created by man, it was done so to answer questions as well as gain control. See it is human nature to question things i.e. our existence, creation, etc... Those answers are obvioulsy not easy to come by even today with all the technology and science we have at our disposal. So when the answers to questions are unfindable or even unfathomable, religion is a great substitute for true knowledge.
Many people who adhere to a specific religion do so out of the fact they were born into it. They would probably be just as happy in any other religion had they known it since berth.
Religion serves many purposes to many people and it is not up to you or to me to tell them what they want or need to believe. That kind of attitude seems very evangelical to me whether you are preaching someone should or should not believe in God. Religion to me should be a very personal thing that has little or nothing to do with those around as everyone is different and one man's religion may not work for the man next to him.

"if atheists understood religion then they would not make a fuss about religion being public as abrahamic religion is inevitably public." No, I still would. I don't give two craps if your holy book tells you to lobby the government because everyone should live based on your beliefs; your right to your beliefs ends where my life beings. "also atheists would understand that religious violence and violence in general is due to the sinful and greedy nature of man." No, I would understand that is what YOU think causes violence in general. While I agree that it has to do with the nature of some humans (not all), the concept of "sin" requires a god against which to "sin" - and I've no solid proof that any such being exists. "even atheists i have known have often been sinful and greedy eg telling lies and wanting lots of money." Again, "sin" requires "god". Some people are immoral; that applies across the borders of belief. As for wanting lots of money - what exactly is wrong with that? If you're attempting to emulate Christ, why have you not given away your computer to buy food for the poor? Because it's a comfort, and it's something you want, so you bought it.

Not exactly, while they may be man-made or even lies that doesn't necessarily mean that they were created with ill intent. I think most religions are based on pretty solid and basic moral foundations it's just that people have completely missed the point.

I don't follow any given religion but I'm not going to castigate somebody for trying to lead a more meaningful life if that's how they choose to do so. No use raining on their parade as long as they leave me alone.

Just because many religious books are based personal perceptions does not make them lies. Now religion does not have "power" over anyone. People have the right to choose what to believe, what we feel, how to act, what to say... And these can be controlled - by ourselves. Don't believe everything that is read and don't discard all things you think are wrong. But do use your own power and control to establish who you are and who you want to be.

What constitutes a religion? A set of commonly held beliefs? Would not atheism therefore be a religion? And was ever a belief system based on there being no God used to wield power and control over others? Yes indeed. Both Russia and Germany used the "survival of the fittest" belief to justify their brutal regimes.

If a religion does not teach, preach and spread that Jesus is Lord over Heaven and Earth, that He was born of a virgin birth, lived 33 1/3 years, performed several miracles, was beaten, mocked and scourged, carried a cross to a hill called Calvary, shed His innocent blood for the sins of the world, gave up the ghost, was buried in a borrowed tomb and rose on the 3rd day......then yes, that religion would be a lie.
Because Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

When governing bodies were/are unpredictable and erratic a religion gives strong rules and guidelines to live by.A refuge .It gives stability, guidance and control in a persons life. without rules(fences) there is no freedom. You may have to think on this. Are they lies? do the teachings harm you? Yes, they do have power and control but then you don't have to join one. It's when you MUST join that the harm comes in to play. and I will say that if ANYONE or any group can controll your sex life then they can control you.think of the Moonies.

I could give a rip either way. Let people think what they want to think. I believe in a God, but that doesn't mean I have to follow a religion. Some folks need that feeling of belonging to a group...even if they do a little brainwashing. They're called the needy...

you are foolish and very arrogant to not believe in a greater power than yourself. true, religion has been manipulated over time to hurt people but i don't think you really care about having a debate about religion. i think you just want a response from those who hold religion close to their hearts. not all of it is man made lies, there is actual proof. do you read?
