Just curious...does anyone out there ever pick up their kids early from daycare if you get off work early?

I'd like to hear both sides people who do/people who never do.

As in get off early...I wasn't clear. I mean every day. As in, you can leave your child until 4:30 but you get home at 2 every day. Would you pick your child up or not.

I'm a SAHM, so no daycare here, however I just can't understand why someone would have children if they didn't want to be around them. If the person in question has the chance to spend extra time with them, why do anything else?

Yes, I would pick my child up. Daycare should only be used when you absolutely have no other options.
The only time I ever left my daughters at their daycare was when I got off work for a doctor or dentist appointment. Then I would pick them up immediately after my appointment.
It's bad enough we have to work, we shouldn't dump our kids in daycare just because we can.

I'm a stay at home mom, so I'm with my kids all day long, but there are days that my son goes to school and I go and pick him up from school instead of waiting 30 extra minutes for him to come home on the bus.

Yes! The kids always get excited when they hear the door open at the sitter's house. They always want to be the first ones! I don't get many days when I can actually get there early, let alone early enough for my daughter to be the first one to be picked up. So, when the opportunity comes along to pick her up early, I'm there!

If I got off at 2, then I'd pick my kids up when I got off. I would want to enjoy as much time with them as I could. I hated it when my kids had to go to a babysitter. If I usually got off at 4:30 and got off at 2 occasionally, then I might not pick them up every time if I had some errands to run or some chore that I needed to do and it would be hard to do with the kids at home.

Sometimes. Sometimes if I get off early, I use that time to go grocery shopping or just relax, because you never get a chance to do that with a 3 year old. Othertimes, I stop by and pick her up just to surprise her and take her to do something fun (like go to the park or McDonalds). Just depends on what I need to do.

i don't have kids in daycare, but i'll pick up my preschooler early if her siblings get out of school early or it otherwise fits best with our schedule. i don't think it makes any difference whatsoever if a kid in daycare/ preschool goes home early. however, i wouldn't pick up elementary-age kids early unless it was for a doctor's appointment or such.
