I took the airplane in august of this year, and well i just started having like a panic attack! i couldnt breathe and well one of the air flight attendants had to bring me water so that i can relax. (It was a night flight) I'm soooo terrified of heights and I've never been on a rollercoaster (yeah i know weird). But ive been on an airplane before, i started getting on airplanes last year in august. And well it was nothing to me i started liking it! But now im afraid to get on again, what should i do?? should i just take some sleeping pills or something?

Oh yeah and last year in dec. i went on the airplane at night and well i had my ipod on and well when i took them off like an hour later my ears where popping like crazy i couldnt hear for like 2-3 days! They were hurting sooooo bad!!!

Could it be that, that traumatized me? Please anyone help im going on the airplane in 2 weeks and well im a little scared.

See your Doctor. Pannic Attacks can be serious and your Dr may be able to help you with that. I'm in favour of sedative medication only when absolutely necessary in extreme cases of Phobia. Sedatives taken within reason and taken as prescribed are permissable within reason. Abuse of such medications, taking more than the prescribed dose, and taken in combination with alcohol present a real safety issue. Over sedation can and will impair your ability to safely evacuate an Aircraft in the event of emergency. Few people actually take this fact into consideration. It's all about safety.

If ear discomfort and hearing loss due to equalization continues for a period of 2-3 days, see your Doctor. That is not the norm...unless you were suffering from a cold at the time? If that was not the case, you might want to see your Doctor or an ENT Specialist.

Have a safe and pleasant flight!

Sometimes freak things happen like that... I'm sure there's nothing much really to worry about... I had a friend who had flew on a plane twice a year since she was 11, and never had any problems. She iwas 14 at the time... She said she was fine when she got on but after a mintue or 2 she started having a panic attack and the flight attendant had to give her some water.. She never could figure out why she had it but she hasn't had another since.. If you have one agin, go to a doctor..

As for the ear popping thing, my only advice is just to chew gum while you're flying, it really works.....

If you`re already set to travel by air again, don`t worry about it. The ipod scenario may well have traumatized you. Are you anxious to see the people where you are going? If so, think about that, instead of your fears.
