First - I don't know of science behind the idea of drinking carbonated water for digestion - on the contrary, liquids with food impairs digestion by diluting acids.

Second - Carbon dioxide consumption may contribute to bone loss.

By "easy digestion" do you mean it eases your heartburn? If so, regular water may do the same thing.

The worst I can think of is occassional gas or bloating from the carbonation.

Absolutely. It causes an extreme problem with overdosage of caffeine. Also, the amount of sugar consumed causes diabeties.
