Considering Iams history for recalls in pet foods, ( I know this may not make sense) but because of financial reasons and because Innova Evo was temporarily out of my reach, I switched to Iams for about a week and a half. Only one of my 8 mo old kittens likes Iams wet food and he started to have very loose stool for about 3 days. When I got ahold of Innova Evo I immediately switched his foods two days ago but this morning I found evidence of what could be vomit? He is still has a lot of energy and I have not seen any signs of worms, his coat has already become a lot softer and shinier, has very good appetite and drinks water. Doesn't seem to have lost weight, is not acting depressed, could it be because I switched his foods suddenly and what can I do

Thank you all very much for your advice, I also heard about serving boiled chicken and rice? Plain white rice?

our cat throws up whenever he has a hairball or eats to quickly. He has a sensitive stomach and if he is super hungry we only feed him a little bit of food at a time so he doesnt vomit it all up. He is like bulimic kitty if he eats to fast.

I would say your cat probably had hair ball so he threw up.

If you changed back to evo, all should be well. And considering the content of Evo Vs Iams is so vastly different, humans would throw it up and have diahreea too.. imagine being given filet mignon and then suddenly hot dogs.

Change the foods gradually by mixing them together. Over about a week start introducing more of the food you intend to keep the cat on until the mixture reaches 100%. Failing that if you haven't got any Iams left give it a little while for his tummy to adjust. It will go back to normal.

I doubt it. The recall is long over and I have heard nothing to indicate that there have been problems recently. While Iams is not the very best food on the market, it is far from the worst and should not make your cat sick. I would get him to a vet. It could be any number of things.

Whenever you switch foods it must be gradual. Mix the old with the new and adjust the ratio over a few days until you are only giving the new food. Some cats have sensitive stomachs and react immediately to any change in diet. If your cat continues to have loose bowels and vomit or stops eating you will need to seek a vets advice.

It's simply because you've been switching foods. It doesn't matter what food it is, any time you switch from one food that an animal has been eating for a while to something new you risk tummy trouble. My vet told me if I wanted to switch I should mix the new with the old for a few days and then gradually increase the amount of new and decrease the amount of the old food. It works pretty well.

Cats are very finicky. My cat HATES Iams, unfortunately. I have to keep switching food as well. He's spoiled. Don't know what to tell you other than stick to what works, make sure it's healthy and don't switch again until your cat makes that decision that he hates the food.

It was probably because his food was switched suddenly like you said you are always supposed to gradually mix the two types of food together and gradually give more until all they are eatting is the new food. It should be fine once it gets used to it I would ask your vet if their is anything you can do or watch out for.

There was a problem with melamine in pet food but this should be clear by now. Cats often cough up furballs so maybe that is what it was.
