No they no longer offer that program. 4 years is your choice.

National Call to Service. 15 months active, and a couple years reserve.
But I think that program screws sailors over. The people who go to that program don't really get C Schools, don't have as much opportunities since they're not in for very long, and in general, get worse commands (Would you rather work in a carrier on Magazine Sprinkler systems all day, or in a destroyer with the 5" Mk 45 gun or Vertical Launch System?). Active duty is much better I think. Besides, 4 years isn't a very long time. I get out of the Navy at age 21. I still have a LOT of time for dreams.

actually there is a program called the NAT program right now that would be close. I am not 100% sure but it normally involves going to basic training and then A-school, formal training for job chosen, and active service for like 15 months then you come home and start drilling with the Navy Reserves. There is also the NCS, National Call to Service Program that may work as well.

all military branches require an initial 8 year contract...usually either 4 or 6 active and the remainder inactive reserves.

The National Call to Service Program will probably be the closest that you can get to what you want.
