This is continued for the second question:

"What Evidence points to the identity of Babylon the Great, referred to in Revelation?"

It could not be the ancient city of Babylon. Revelation was written at the end of the first century C.E. and describes events that would reach down to our day. The Encyclopedia Americanna says: "The city [Babylon] was taken by the Persians under Cyrus the Great in 539 B.C. Later Alexander the Great planned to make Babylon the capital of his eastern empire, but after his death Babylon gradually lost importance." (1956, Vol. III, p. 7) Today the city is an uninhabited ruin.

In the symbolism of Revelation, Babylon the Great is referred to as a "great city," a "kingdom" that rules other kings. (Rev. 17:18) Like a city, it would have many organizations within it; and like a Kingdom that includes other kings in its domain, it would be international in scope. It is described as having relations with political rulers and contributing..........

What a great question, especially during this time of the year when many people want to believe that they are pleasing God by celebrating a pagan holiday.
They fail to see that they are enriching the lives of the merchants who capitalize off the foolish......these very merchants are mentioned in the book of Revelation......what's interesting too , that the people should be able to see is, this is a worldwide rip-off.....countries who don't acknowledge Jesus Christ are on the money-bandwagon for profit.
Sadly those who claim to know Jesus are worst than the merchants because they are actually displeasing God and His Son by going along with a worldly lie!

The time is urgent to get out from among false religions and it's many lies that mislead the majority of mankind.

Many today believe that Babylon the Great can be associated with the US. The US as a nation has many resemblances to the city of Babylon during scriptural times. Some also believe that "Babylon" is the current religious system, and that God is telling His people (those who have the testimony of Jesus (Yeshua) AND who keep His commandments) to leave man's religious system and return to His way of worship and living as He has commanded us throughout scripture.

The time is fast approaching when Babylon the great will be destroyed, Anyone associated with her will reap the consequences.
The Scriptural description of Babylon the Great fits the world’s collective body of false religion. Although the thousands of religions are not formally united as one world organization, they are inseparably joined in purpose and deed. As depicted by the immoral woman in Revelation, false religion has tremendous influence over governments. Resembling a woman not faithful to her marriage vows, false religion has prostituted herself by forming alliances with one political power after another. “Adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God?” wrote the disciple James. “Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God.”—James 4:4.
This mixing of false religion with the governments has resulted in much human suffering. African political analyst Dr. Xolela Mangcu observed that “world history is littered with examples of mass killings caused by linking religion and politics.” One newspaper recently stated: “The bloodiest and most dangerous disputes today . . . are wrapped in religion.” The lives of millions have been snuffed out in religiously supported conflicts. Babylon the Great has even persecuted and killed God’s true servants, becoming drunk with their blood, as it were.—Revelation 18:24.

That Jehovah hates false worship is clearly seen from what happens to Babylon the Great. Revelation 17:16 states: “The ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire.” First, a huge beast mauls her to death and eats up her fleshy parts. Then, whatever remains of her is completely burned. Correspondingly, soon the world governments will take such action against false religion. God will make it happen. (Revelation 17:17) Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion, is doomed to destruction. “She will never be found again.”—Revelation 18:21.

Most religions find it offensive if you say they are part of Babylon the Great...the world empire of false religion. Rather than heading the warning they sit there in their homes and balk and bash Jehovah's messengers. The bible says that Jehovah could have used the rocks to cry out the message of the good news but he commissioned his people to go door to door as Jesus did in ancient times to face each one and give them the knowledge of God's will face to face.

God's will is that every human come into harmony with his purposes and become his witnesses as did Jesus and Abraham and Enoch, and Jacob and all the faithful ones.

Why do we come to your door even after you tell us to go away? Your house is on fire and if we have to we'll drag you to safety.
Wake up...don't fall into the category of those in the last days like those in Noah's day...they were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage and they took no note ( of the dangerous times of the last days) and the flood swept them all away..
Oh please wake up...see the truth...this world is going down...the system of things like all the world powers is soon to be destroyed...Only those hoping in Jehovah will be saved.

Your presentation indicates you most likely already know answers to your question.
Babylon the Great represents all religions that bring shame and scandal upon the true God.
It makes sense that if one stays with such a religion, they make themselves enemies of God.
If one does not wish to be such: GET OUT!!!

I think that Babylon is the collection of Anti-Christian fundamentalists sects that turn the Gospel message of Love on its head and use it to spread hatred and violence. These anti-evangelists are horrible because they make others hate to even hear the name of Christ and therefore make themselves very effective tools of Satan. We should stay out of such churches if we truly want to follow Christ.
