i wouldn't use a flea/tick shampoo on a puppy that small. it is too harsh, and there are natural alternatives that work just as good.
this shampoo is excellent for dogs with sensitive skin and it's safe for all animals of all sizes and ages:

it is actually kills fleas and ticks naturally, without chemicals.
if you don't believe me read the reviews:

of course for tick and flea prevention the best thing is frontline plus, but you'll need to ask you vet about that.
as for how to give him a bath... any way that is convenient for you. when i wash my dog (a blue merle mini poodle) i just fill the bathroom tub with a few inches of warm water and use a big cup to pour water over him, lather him up, then rise him with the cup again. don't forget to dry him well too, small dogs get cold easy. i wrap my pup up with a big fluffy towel and gently blow dry the worst of it (be careful about how close you hod the dryer they can get very hot). it's also good to brush him once he is dry, since most matts occur when a dog gets wet.

Did you use a flea treatment shampoo? Many flea and tick shampoos and rinses are not completely safe, especially when used on young puppies. The best way to really determine the cause of death is to have a vet preform a necropsy- sometimes it can be something completely unexpected. We lost a beautiful pup once- he just got sick and died. Had no idea how it could have happened, if he was bitten by a spider or a snake, etc. Turned out he got into an ancient bag of sheep manure and died of phosphate poisoning... poor lil guy...

yes it would be fine to give him a bath. Sentry is made for animals 8 weeks and older. I would say in the sink. Be sure to leave the shampoo on for ten min before rinsing.. The flea bath souldn't hurt the puppy, just be careful of the eyes.
"Sentry Flea and Tick Shampoo Original - 18 oz. ... but safe enough pregnant and nursing cats as well as kittens and puppies as young as 8 weeks old "
--from Sentry's web site
I work at a shelter and we give kittens and pups flea baths all the time

Don't do it. Don't bath to get rid of fleas. Bath to get rid of smell by all means - but flea shampoos don't work. Seriously, no pet store flea treatments do.
If you need to get rid of fleas, you need to get a proper treatment from a vets, like Frontline, Revolution, Advantage or Advocate - any of these can be used from 8 weeks of age. If your pup is especially tiny, like a chihuahua or something you can use the spray version of Frontline, which can be used from 2 days of age.
Be aware that you have to wait 48 hours after bathing before you can apply a spot-on, or it won't work. Likewise you have to wait 48 hours after bathing before you can apply it - so you need to coordinate de-fleaing the dog with de-smelling it! Any flea shampoo will wash off some of the current fleas, but you'll then have to wait 48 hours and the fleas will be back by then.

Use a fragrance free hypoallergenic shampoo so you don't dry out her skin.
Most Tick and Flea shampoos tend to dry out dogs skin and do more harm in the long run.
If you want to treat for fleas and ticks try advatix for small dog. We love that stuff. You can get it really cheap on-line, like a 6 month supply for less them $50 bucks on some sites.
Good luck.

You need to get a puppy shampoo that is safe for his delicate skin. Also, I haven't seen a flea shampoo work yet! You need to think about the chemicals that are in that, and are they really safe? Would you wash a baby in chemicals? Puppies are even smaller. If your pup has a reaction to the chemicals in that shampoo, he's awfully tiny to try and survive that.
As for bathtime, you can wash him in the sink, or the tub, which ever is easiest for you, at this time, I would recommend the sink so long as he fits, as it's so much easier on your back.

he can get sick, i think you should buy the puppy wipes. they are especially for puppies when they need a bath, but they are too young. they sell them at pet smart. go to google.com and type in pet smart. once you find the store website type in puppy bath wipes(that's what they look like)
if not you can put him in the tup and pour small cups of warm water till hes wet, then put the shampoo, rinse(repeat if you want to) then you can towel or blow dry him.
i hope this helps. : )

That shampoo is too harsh for his skin. Go get a puppy shampoo that won't burn the skin
