Those poor people looked so miserable having to listen to David Spade and Kelly Clarkson. Did yall see Tony Stewart roll his eyes when she was singing? I always thought NASCAR was more rock n roll then that.

bjhoppy, I usually avoid responding to somebody who says absolutely NOTHING but how could I resist, you can go sit and spin on your finger, says the Jeff Gordon fan.

lol Spade and Clarkson....yeah its painfully obvious NASCAR doesn't really know its demographic anymore.

I really wish they'd drop the whole weak comedy act and prima donna singers and just go back to the nice formal affair it use to be.

lol I read the first answer that a Kelly Clarkson fan will tune in...Well im pretty sure your not going to start going to races because a singer you like sang at the banquet at the end of the year lol. Thats like saying if Big n Rich sang at the Superbowl, maybe I will watch half time to see them sing, but im not going to be a football fan because of that lol. I think NASCAR thinks there drawing fans in by adding all this pop **** and new culture crap when all there doing is losing fans, I turned the channel when that Spade fag came on, he was horrible, Gordon and Stewart were the funniest ones on stage lol. Nascar needs to keep its Southern culture and view other wise they will have problems. I have friends in school who joke about how NASCAR is gay cuz im the only one who likes it, I told him how they put rap on the commercials and ****, and hes like what a bunch of posers. Its so gay, its getting worse and worse. Toyota is an other joke but ive gotta go now lol. Go Stewart! Go GM!

You just have to realize that it was an award ceremony for race car drivers, not the fake people you see on T.V. shows or the movies. They could've had Oprah for an entertainer and I still would have liked it, because I wasn't watching because of David Spade or Kelly Clarkson. It was supposed to be about the drivers and their organizations. I think it's more fortunate for the people of NASCAR to get a break in the action and relieve a little tension for them. David Spade made me laugh a little and Kelly Clarkson has earned my respect for her rock-n-roll style vocals.

I actually thought some of those jokes that David Spade told were pretty funny and some of them got the crowd to laugh others were mediocre. I really liked the one he told about his mother calling and being like Britney Spears shaved her head, no way, and Lindsay Lohan has an alcohol problem and shes not even suppossed to drink.... That was pretty funny to me.. Kelly Clarkson has performed at numerous NASCAR events and is a very good singer and has some very good music. I thought that she would have sang a much newer song, then "Since You've Been Gone." Then again she looked like she had gained some weight or she was pregnant as some of my friends said, but I think it was that babydoll style shirt as I think it makes everyone look pregnant.

I actually really like Kelly Clarkson, the sound system just totally sucked & I think that ruined her performance. As for David Spade......he stunk. I found no humor at all, I don't think anyone in the audiance did either they were all pretty quite. I am not a big fan of Tony Stewart but I thought he was way funnier than Spade. He made me laugh....great speech.

okay, i would agree that kelly clarkson's music does not exactly fit into the nascar mold. but she did kick off the daytona 500 in february, and she did a lot of charity work with nascar this past year. that's why she performed at the awards ceremony. i think she did a great job, but i think that the drivers could have been a little more accommodating with her performance. they just kind of stared at her and yawned. jimmy johnson was the only one that was trying to appreciate her music. i felt bad for her because it must have been so uncomfortable playing to a bunch of obviously uninterested people.

i fast-forwarded through david spade - wouldn't give him the time of day.

I get why they picked Clarkson from a marketing perspective and she's become a fan.
Spade was a weird choice. I just don't think of him as MC material. I've MCed award shows before (ah, the perks of radio) and I always figured they weren't really there to see me anyway, so I opened with a few one-liners and tried to let the award recipients be the focal point after that.
They could've done better for an MC. Much better. Get a real sports person up there who won't talk out his hiney.

Nascar was trying to appeal to a broader audience with Spade. jeff foxworthy would not bring them anymore viewers than there already were. David Spade fans are not the typical Nascar fan so if they got a few of his fans to tune in. they knew the typical Nascar fan would tune in no matter who was there. same with kelly clarkson

Whatever, every year is different. Nascar isn't in the business of putting on awards show's. Feel lucky you got to see it.
I remember when Stewart won the Cup and Cheryl Crow was performing and Tony was oogling her with his eye's. I thought he was going to throw her his room key or something.
Maybe it's all about Tony's facial/eye expressions. What's he gonna do at the awards this year kind of thing!?!?....Whatever.
