This can be made in advance and then baked when you are going to serve your meal. If refrigerated, allow to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour before baking. I have frozen it also. Do not add the cheese topping until you are ready to bake.
Twice Baked Potato Casserole
10 large russet baking potatoes
1 cup sour cream( I sometimes use 1/2 cup sour cream and 1/2 cup Kraft Three Cheese Salad Dressing)
1/2 cup milk
1 stick butter or margarine
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
3/4 pound bacon, cooked until crisp and crumb
1 lb cheddar cheese
1/2 cup finely chopped green onions
3 eggs, lightly beaten
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place the potatoes in the oven and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until tender. Remove from the oven and set aside on a wire rack until cool enough to handle.
Cut each potato in half and, using a spoon or a melon baller, scoop the flesh out of the skins, leaving as little flesh as possible. Place the potato flesh in a large bowl and add 1 stick of the butter, the sour cream, milk, salt, and pepper and mash until chunky-smooth. Add the bacon,3/4's of the grated Cheddar, the green onions, and eggs and mix thoroughly.
Butter a 9 x 13-inch casserole with the remaining tablespoon of butter and reduce the oven temperature to 375ºF.
Place the seasoned potato mixture in the prepared casserole and top with the remaining grated Cheddar. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until bubbly around the edges and heated through and the cheese on top is melted and lightly golden. Serve hot.

A Caesars Salad would make a good starter course. You can purchase a prepack of Caesars Salad greens at your local super market as well as the Caesars dressing. Add croutons to authenticate the salad.
Cole slaw side dish will offset the salty tastes of your combined ham and bacon. Another consideration would be macaroni and cheese - cheap, easy to prepare and tasty.

you can make a broccoli casserole that would go well with that....
you can have either sweet potatoes or a sweet potato casserole...
mashed potatoes or chunk up your potatoes and roast them in the oven....
here is what you will need for the broccoli casserole:
1 10 oz can of cream of mushroom soup
1 container or box of stuffing
1 24 oz bag of frozen broccoli, thawed
1 c. cheese whiz
prepare stuffing by box directions. In a bowl, mix together soup, cheese whiz and the broccoli. Pour into a 13 x 9 baking dish. Spread stuffing on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
To make it cheesier, I cut up chunks of velvetta and sprinkled them all over the casserole before I put the stuffing on top
for dessert: any type of pie: apple or pecan
here is one that is good for dessert: 4 layer delight
1 c. flour
3/4 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. butter
1 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 container cool whip
1 c. confectioner's sugar
1 large box of vanilla pudding (can use chocolate, banana cream is good also)
chopped pecans for garnish
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. For the first layer, mix together in a bowl flour, pecans, and butter. Press into 13 x 9 baking dish and bake for 15 minutes. Let cool completely. While layer is cooling, in another bowl mix together the cream cheese, sugar and 1 c. of cool whip. Pour over 1st layer when completely cooled. For 3rd layer, mix box of pudding according to the directions on the box. Pour over 2nd layer. Top the pudding with remaining cool whip and sprinkle with pecans. Refrigerate several hours or over night to make sure the dessert is set.

Quinoa stir fry 1 cup quinoa 2 cups liquid-I usually use veggie stock 1/2 cup roasted chopped nuts 1/4 cup shredded cheese 6 oz fresh spinach 1 cup chopped fresh tomatoes-you could substitute another veg Toast quinoa in dry skillet until fragrant and golden-add liquid, bring to a boil, lower heat, cover and simmer 20 minutes. Add spinach and cook, stirring, until wilted. Add cheese, nuts and tomatoes, heat through and serve. This is nice because the ingredients are flexible. I have used pecans, pumpkin seeds, almonds, pine nuts and cashews-parmesan, gruyere and gouda-and green beans, asparagus and colored bell peppers, all with tasty results.

We're having ham and green beans too. And garlic cream cheese mashed potatoes, bacon gravy, stuffing, possibly asparagus with hollandaise, crusty bread, and a mixed green salad with balsamic vinaigrette and feta. I can't wait for Christmas dinner!

I am trying a new cake recipe in Cooking Light. It s chocolate cake with peppermint ice cream in the middle. I just thought this is the type of dessert I would only make once in a while so why not splurge for Christmas.

Will depend on on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fruits personally. It's tastier and gives you that little bit of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to minimize back on sugar and lose weight vegetables
