(1) Channel set diamonds are a good way to go because they can be modern and sleek but still have sparkle. Also, by using a number of smaller stones, you can get more "diamond" for your money. So, for that, it's a good deal, and She will probably say it's pretty.
(2) When you buy this sort of ring from Zales, you are not getting "certified" diamonds. Those are diamonds that have been reviewed by a gemologist certified by the GIA or another appraisal organization to test the color, clarity, and carat weight of the diamond. Thus, you really don't know the quality of the diamond you're getting. Note on the website that it says that the diamonds are "I-J" color. Ask to see a color chart. You'll see that J colored diamonds are significantly yellow to the naked eye. That means the diamonds you'll be getting are likely going to cast a slighly yellow hue and because they're not certified, may have visible "inclusions" (cracks or tick marks" in the stone that affect the stone's refractive qualities and may even make the stone look spotted to the naked eye.
(3) Realize that the center stone is NOT that big. This is a 1/2 carat total weight ring set, with nearly 20 diamonds. Do the math and realize that the small diamonds aren't going to be much bigger than chips. "Objects on website may appear larger."
(4) The finish is white gold. There is no such thing as "white" gold; what happens is that the jeweler drops a yellow gold piece into a solution and hooks it up to an electric current, and the solution coats the gold and makes it white. This will rub off, and poorly done treatments will rub off quickly. That's no big deal, because it can be reapplied, usually for free, but just know that it will happen.
So I wouldn't buy the ring on-line (because you want to see the ACTUAL diamonds that are going to be put in the setting) , and if this is about your budget (by the way, there's nothing wrong with spending less thatn $1,000 on a ring... it's the person behind the ring, not the ring itself that matters) it's not a bad choice. Just realize what you're giving up when you make that choice.
Another option would be to buy the diamonds from a diamond reseller, like bluenile.com (so you don't have to pay tax) or from a local diamond reseller (you can probably find them in your local yellow pages) and then buy a very similar setting to put the diamond in. Then, you can get a nicer diamond (probably better cut, color and carat weight than if you bought it in the ring from Zales) but still have the inexpensive setting. And perhaps you can still get a channel set diamond without the smaller side stones, to save on cost.
Still, this isn't a bad deal for the price, and I'm sure she'll love it (because it's stylish AND it came from YOU!). Good luck!

That is very pretty. Make sure the ring you get fits your gf's personality too. And be careful buying diamonds.
The price of the diamond and the ring are dependent on the cut, color, clarity and carat of the stone. The better the quality, the higher the price. Always inspect it and look at it in different lights because that will allow you to see the imperfections in the stone and you will definitely see a difference in a lower quality diamond. Also, if the number of carats is important be aware that the TOTAL weight of that ring is 1/2 CT so the center stone will not be as big as you might expect...or it might not be as good of a quality as you'd like.
If you are going to spend money on a diamond, I would actually choose something with less and go for more quality--this will hold and gain value much better in the long run and is a better investment.

Hey...you are going to go look at the ring in the store right? I just thought I would recommend that because it says it is 1/2 CT TOTAL WEIGHT! That means that center diamond is REALLY, really, really small. I am not saying that that matters, it's just that looking at the picture, it is very deceiving.... Looking at the picture it looks like it could be a 3/4 CT center stone, and prob 1.5 CT. T.W. NOT including the wedding band and it does say that that IS included.
If I were you, I'd take a look at the store to make sure you think she would like it. :-) Have you ever shopped for rings together to get an idea of what she would like? But, that RING is Beautiful! The setting and everything are perfect, just want to make sure the size is what you would expect. :-)
Good luck!!!!

I like the one you mentioned, and you can't beat the price. A ring should match the person. How is she? This ring has a very modern style to it, so make sure it matches her style. If she 75 years old or milks cows for a living, this is not a good choice. :)
Just for comparison, I've included the item nos on a few other ones that I like:
16926834
17538315
16926784
They're more expensive, but still a good deal. They are more on the classical side.
In the end, you have to ask youself if it fits her as a person. I understand that price is important to you, but if the ring style is wrong then it's a waste of $600.

It's a gorgeous ring. It doesn't matter how small it is or the cost. If she loves you, they symbol of the ring alone will mean more than anything.
looks like you made a good choice. The 4 Cs are covered well, and it's a nice style.
Go for it!! Congrats and good luck!

First of all, it doesnt really matter because you're in love. With that said, make sure you are analyzing all aspects of the ring: cut, clarity, color, and carat weight (this is least important to me). I see its color is I-J, that can be very yellow and flat in natural light. I would advise instead to find a higher quality ring with less quantity of diamonds. That way you get better bang for your buck, and its a better investment.
I dont think buying and engagement ring online is a good idea. Go to the store and take a look at the ring in person, MAKE SURE you ask to be walked OUTSIDE the store to see the ring in natural light. The lights in the stores are VERY deceiving. :)
Good luck and congrats!

Zales & Kay Jewelry are Mall Jewelers and are total rip offs. If I were you I would go into some jewelry sites on the internet. Do your homework. These sites give a 30 day money back guarantee and free shipping. I can give you a few sites to look at:
primestyle.com and diamondsonweb.com (30 day money back guarantee) and bluenile.com.

That's a beautiful ring! Very similar to my mother's wedding set. The classics never go out of style.

I would not go to any place in the mall. They have Chatchki rings there. Go to a real diamond place. They have about the same prices with better quality.
Oh and, be aware that you have to rebuy the warrenty there every 3 years. It's like $300 or so.
