They are very angry people looking for answers. If they actually did not believe in the possibility of a higher power than themselves, there would be no reason to be here.
After all, I have yet to meet a real Atheist who did not pride themselves about their Superior reasoning skills.

In a sense, we've more right to be here than most Christians. The typical atheist has given a great deal of thought to his personal beliefs, studied a wide variety of literature on such concepts, and is therefore in a much better position to answer questions on such topics.
So nyah.
