Isn't great that we live in a country where people can degrade, mock, insult, etc... my God. I mean, no one has been executed or no riots have taken the lives of thousands. We just simply make fun of the Lord Our God. I'm not saying to go start bloody death riots, but people, come on!!! I know that most of you out there are not Christians, but why do we have to mock every religion. Can't we just leave all religions out of movies. I can't shove God down everyone's throat, but they shouldn't curse my God. Sorry non beleivers, but if we continue down this road, our country will just get worse. We are the chosen country, but He will only put up with so much !!! Movies have been getting a little carried away. The farther the movies go, the worse our imaginations will become. This world is our chidren's backyard. Is this the yard you want your kids and grandkids to play in? Any opinions that do NOT insult my God please !!!

God Bless you for making a stand. You won't get too many supporters on here.

I feel hurt and sad that they are doing this to our God. This is the time of Jesus's birth. This is a major insult to God. A clear indication that Satan is very hard at work. Where are all the Christians to defend him? That makes me even sadder.... but name a teddy bear Mohammad and watch out! There was more of a fuss over a ham for Hanukkah on the news last night. What a joke!

I am just glad to hear someone speak up for him. Thank you.

This is a segment from a longer article I wrote on this subject. I am a Christian myself, and I tend to think that people should not judge before they know the full story. Here is the segment from my article.
"Some people have also said that the girl, Lyra, kills her mother to be free from her authority. Her mother dies in the third book to (I haven't read it in a few years so this is as I remember it) SAVE her daughter.

In the third book they do in fact kill "god" but it is not the God as we know it. It is an angel who has taken up the name and has no authority at all, really.

The story is in fact very intriguing, and I am getting very tired of Christians talking about it as if they know anything about the book besides what fanatics have written, and the few quotes they have heard or seen Philip Pullman say.

Before you critisize it, read it. Then say what you have to say.

And if Christians can't take a little competition without going over the deep end, then something is sorely wrong with us. This kind of competition is oftentimes what helps to strengthen our faith.

I am probably going to see the movie, hopefully the day it comes out. I grew up reading this triligy, and loved it. Do I have any less faith in Christ? No! Do I still believe Jesus died to save me? Yes. Do I have any doubts about God, or the fact that He exists as the Bible says? Absolutely not.

I am not scarred in any way from reading, and enjoying these books. They bring forth some interesting topics to talk about and debate with close family and friends, and they give you a view of what some people do in fact believe.

I enjoy Philip Pullman's work, and will continue to read the books over and over again.

I'm not saying that everything presented in the series is completely accurate. I'm not even saying that all of it is right. I'm just saying, read the books and get a first hand understanding of what's going .. you condemn them.

That is all I have to say."
Hope this helps,.
God Bless,
Kat

I wonder why you get upset when people mock your religion... it's okay for a comic to mock the Muslims... or the Jews... but god forbid someone mock the Christians. I have no problem whatsoever with your god. I have a problem with you and your religion. People don't line up to throw stones at Jeff Dunham's newest puppet... Achmed the Dead Terrorist... What the hell makes you think that you are above reproach? What makes you think it's okay for you to mock any one else... and don't tell me you don't... every one tells racist jokes... everyone tells blonde jokes... everyone.... including you. But any time someone even thinks of making fun of Christianity, you go nucking futs. It's ridiculous. I even make fun of white people... and guess what... I'm not gonna get any darker anytime soon... Why can't we have fun at your expense, like you do to... everyone else?

Tell me how your belief in Christianity automatically makes you better than anyone else.

Thank you, by the way, for ruining what looked like a good movie with your intolerance. My daughter really want's to see that movie too... and now.... it's Passion of the Christ all over again, (still refuse to watch that one).

Why would I need to insult something that doesn't exist?

Is your faith so weak that it is challenged by a fantasy movie? Why weren't you saying this for "Evan Almighty" or any other religious or pseudo religious movie?

Are you sure that the Golden Compass mocks your god and not some other god or perhaps the concept of gods?

As for what I'd like to pass down to my descendants, it is not a world where the majority accept "pseudo science" as reality or equate science with a "belief".

Note:
There is a difference in choosing to go to a movie and knocking on a persons door to tell them the unwanted "good news".

We are the chosen country? Are you in a cult or something?

And no, religions will not be left out of movies - nor should they be. Atheists in general do not mind Christian movies, but once an atheist-based movie comes out Christians are in an uproar.

Our country will continue to get worse with people like George Bush in office, not because of free speech.

Two points (which you will ignore):

First, we cannot insult that which does not exist, and second,
Christians certainly did kill people over that sort of thing, 500 years ago, when your religion was the same age as Islam. All religions go through their phases.

BTW, what scriptural support do you have for America being God's chosen country?

I'm finna go see it tonight. I'll be sure to let you know how much more immoral I have become. I doubt this movie can do anymore damage to my view of religion than the things I have witness from religious people in real life.

Come on in man. It's cold outside.

You could stop your kids from going to see that movie or you can be open-minded and expose them to the positives and negatives all around us; then you can discus with them afterwards and show them the worthlessness of the Golden Compass.
But there could be another solution; you could take the route of my Fanatic Muslim friends; dispatch suicide bombers to the cinemas and kill everyone who looks at the movie.

We can mock whatever religion we choose because we live in America. If you'd like some change move to the middle east (and don't steal anything...)

First, Why do you think we are the chosen country? Secondly, things are just going to get worse... Trust in the Lord everything else will take it's place after that. People of the world will hate us, for following him, but know they hated him first... Peace and Blessings...
