Yes, it is OK to use dairy products and eggs if you fast on Friday. Fish is also acceptable, but not chicken, beef, or pork.

Incidentally, the fasting on Friday rule was never abolished. It was amended to permit people to do another act of penance in its place, such as praying and giving alms.

Sorry, Betty, but observing Friday abstinence is still very much a Catholic practice. Lenten abstinence is considered a minimum, but meatless Fridays remain an option for the faithful as their personal piety leads them, with full approval and encouragement of the Church.

Eggs are fine for days of abstinence. The one small meal taken on a fast day can also include eggs.

The more strict fasting involves not eating any animal based products, our brothers the orthodox practice it like that over the lenten and advent period only plant based food except on feastdays like St. Joseph's, The Annuntiation, etc, Jesus explained that to the seer Julka for the Western Church so in a stricter sense eggs, cheese would be out.

When you do it during the 40 days in preparation for easter it is OK to eat eggs. It's not a vegetarian regime, you just need to refrain from eating warm blooded animal's meat.

Wolfe is right, fasting on Fridays was never abolished. Eggs are OK...

as for the "Caths are funny" responder... you are confident you do not appear funny to others ? besides, what are "Caths", are you a "Prot" by any chance ? You really believe Catholics do NOT follow the Bible, do you ? I have bad news for you, they do...

Betty Boop appears to be full of poop. Many other already gave you the right answer but i do find it quite silly when non-Catholics try to tell us what we believe.
