For those who do use this excuse, have you ever considered how you would feel if you were unfortunate enough to be one of those women? Do you honestly believe they really wanted to be with killers, the murderers of their husbands, brothers, fathers? I just don't get this at all.

Terry M - I'm asking about Muhammad because he claims to be a prophet of God, not just a prophet but the last and best one! Muslims tend to say he was wonderful for marrying widows, yet they leave out the fact he was responsible for them becoming widows!
There were no prophets leading the Crusaders and the men didn't say these are my wives and we are taking care of them because we just killed their men.
Why don't you answer this question and ask your own question?

Marc P - You are absolutely correct, except Muslims present it as a nice idea. They don't say the Muslims raped, pillaged and plundered. They say the Muslims cared for them, married them and stopped slavery. They also say the women "embraced" Islam, like they had a choice! I would have more respect if they said the truth.

You failed to mention that Muhammad and gang did take some of these women as slaves. Some were sold. Some were ransomed, after being raped. Why can't you just tell the truth about this event?!!

Space Lover - Your ignorance shows by referring to our armed forces as Christian. Can you prove they all are? Did any American accept these crimes or did America arrest the criminals? It's not just captured women that were not treated well. Aisha, the favorite wife of Muhammad, even said the "infidels" treated their women better than the believers.
Muslim men are allowed to beat their wives "but not too severely" because "they are like domestic animals."

What's to get? Muslims believe that Muhammad was a prophet who was allowed by allah to do anything. It's really that simple and sad. allah gave all sorts of revelations that justified the crimes they committed and terrorists are using some of these verses to justify the crimes they commit today.
Some Muslims have literally followed Muhammad's example, even raping women in front of their husbands. Read this article:

This is easy; it's called "rationalizing!" To rationalize is to explain away actions or beliefs that are otherwise unjustifiable. I call this process "mental gymnastics:" leaping over obvious absurdities.
In our society, there are only two arenas of thought where we condone mental gymnastics: racial issues and religious issues. I won't go into the first one, because it doesn't relate to your question, but I will go into the second one. Religion is an area of the human experience where we allow people to believe absurdities. People are free to believe things about the nature of "God" and the universe that they are not free to believe about math (i.e. nobody has to "respect" you for believing that 2+2 = 10). If, however, you believe that Muhammad was a moral man, despite his numerous atrocities (raping a child, trading slaves, engaging in assassinations, etc.) we, as good p.c. Americans, have to respect your beliefs.
You see, most Americans have a benignly positive disposition toward religion, but this partiality allied with political correctness is blinding us. Our general reluctance to criticize religion, and the almost universal ignorance about Islam, make for a dangerous and potentially lethal mix. If we criticize the obvious absurdities in Islam, we leave ourselves open to attach against the obvious absurdities in our own faiths.

muslims say that allah was going to outlaw slavery in the future, a little at a time, like he did the drinking of wine. with threats from the great satan, the u.s.a.. saudia arabia the craddle of islam, outlawed slavery in 1962 however you can still buy you a good slave girl in a few islamic countries because of the teachings of the great prophet and allah.

You are talking about an event which is 1500 years ago when the people were accepting to the results of war: either annihilation or enslavement. But the Muslims married them so as not to make them slaves. How is that to compare with the Christians when the Christian colonizers raped, murdered and sold African women slaves just a century ago justfying that it was biblically sanctioned?

Women back then and still today in the Eastern culture do not work outside the home. So without anyone to provide for them they would have starved or would have had to do something forbidden like become prostitutes to feed themselves and their children. This is one of the reasons of Polygamy to protect the widows and provide for them and their orphaned children in case the husband dies. The Muslims who followed Muhammad(PBUH*) went to war in self defense. The Pagans of Arabia broke the peace treaty between the Muslims Muhammad(PBUH*) led and their city. Muhammad(PBUH*) gave the people of Mecca 4 months to apologize and reseal the treaty but the Pagans refused to do so. Do you know that when the Muslims signed the peace treaty with the Pagans that there was no war for 13 years? Marrying a man who killed my husband would be better then dying of starvation or being forced to become a prostitute to feed myself and any children that I had at the time of war. This is why women shouldn't be in war. They will just get more hurt seeing their husbands and brothers die.
