I am used to walk and enjoy walking in the big cities by nights. I walked without serious fear in many of them. Where can I feel safe to walk in N.Y. C. at 3 a.m. in February?

Stay below 96th on the East side and about 110th on the West side and you'll be fine.

NYC is the safest big city in the country.

I have traveled to NYC many times and I have never really felt unsafe in any part of Manhattan. Of course, there is the ocassional weird smelly bum or pyschotic evangelist on the subway, but usually if you act as if they arent there (like a true New Yorker), they usually leave you alone.

From my experiences, most areas of Manhattan are very well lit and busy even at 3am, especially Times Square.

The old rule of staying below 96th street no longer applies!

You can travel uptown above 175th all the way to the north tip of Manhattan and be fine (just stay west of broadway)

If you're in Manhattan, I realy wouldn't worry about walking most any place. But many parts aren't that great at nite.
