I wonder how they feel knowing that I would not have gone to see the movie if they hadn't bitched about it? Really, I had no intention of spending the money, but now that they are up in arms, I actually want to see it.

Have you noticed that there were no complaints or threats of boycotts by atheists or other non-Christians over the movie The Chronicles of Narnia? You pointed out what I intended to ask as a question: "Is there more to Christianity than just complaining about everything you don't like?" Are there any religions anywhere that dwell on the self more than they do on condemning others?

It doesn't matter what they say. The movie's gonna show, people will see it, it will make a fortune, and there is nothing that the protestors can do about it. They'll wait until it comes out on video and watch it secretly at home, LOL.
Good point, skalite: I wasn't giving it a lot of thought before all the fuss started, but now I'm going to see it in the theater.

It is the atheists who whined when they removed the book from a Catholic kids school library. Even though they constantly express their disgust at people who indcotrinate their children with religious belief. They also periodically complain about religious displays. In a leave it to beaver world some atheists are the Judy Henslins ever watching and waiting to snitch on any percieved injustice no matter how trivial.

The issue I have with The Golden Compass as a Christian isn't that it's pro-Atheist. It's that it's promoting killing God. The movie itself is a thinly veiled attempt in it's symbolism to teach children that God doesn't exist, and to kill any belief they may have of Him.
Nice try switching around Christian dislike of the movie into being anti-atheism, though, and trying to make Christians look horrible. The bashing comes from atheists against believers, directly taken from the symbolism in the movie.
Go ahead, enjoy your movie. I hope it makes you feel better.

Everyone's whiney...not just athiests...when the Passion of the Christ came out...many athiests were whining...now that this Golden Compass has come out Christians are whiney...it's just in human nature..when something isn't what you believe, you whine about it. Pretty pathetic.

I'm not boycotting The Golden Compass, I'm not interested in the debate at all. Way to paint all Christians with the same brush.

I plan on watching the movie at least five times just because the catholic church wants to boycott it.

I'm n the same boat. I wasn't planning on seeing it since it looked like a kids movie, but my son is a bit young for that and was sort of scared by the intensity of the trailor.
We're gonna leave him with grandma now and go see it ourselves.

Stupidity. They assume we care because they would if the situation were reversed.
I cant wait to see that movie now! I wasnt really interested until all of that-I'll be taking the kids to see it soon. It'll be nice if they get some movie style brainwashing that isnt either WWII (LOTR and HP) or religious (Narnia).
