With that kind of degree, going the officer route is your best option, I think..
While they do prefer technical degrees, even a degree in "leisure studies" can get you a commission. My Div O, who was flying F/A-18's, went to school to be......a veterinarian.
As far as enlisted goes, all the degree will do is save you from doing a lot more college later if you want to make E-8 and above.

Most nontechnical careers can be filled by an individual with a history degree.
Yes by graduating from college it shows you have discipline and many other characters that are desired by the military for future leaders. If you just scammed your way through college then that will became evident in officer training or the first few months of military duty under pressure.

Sure. Some careers don't require a specific degree. Besides, there are Historians in the Military. The Air Force AFSC for Historians is 3H0X1.

If you are an expert in military history, you might find a job teaching at one of the military academies. They are not going to be interested in your political scienceminor if it's going to contradict the indoctrination they are already giving

Another avenue to research is to look into being a civilian worker for the Army. They have jobs for Historians. Look it up at USA-Jobs. Then try a service search. Last I looked the Air Force was looking for a lot of Historians.
