You've proved to the Examiner that you know how to drive a car, and you've shown that you are safe on the road.
Congratulations!
Now the next big accomplishment will be to become a really, good driver. Believe me that takes years.
In winter you need to take things rather more steadily - black ice is a real menace because you don't realise it is there until you slide.
Learn to steer into a skid.
Don't drive close behind the car in front so that you have time to brake without sliding into the back of it.
Should you get stuck in snow on a hill, it is usually easier to get some traction by starting in 2nd gear not first.
Keep emergency equipment with you if you going out into snow (chains if necessary), a snow shovel, some sacks to put under wheels, extra warm clothing and a blanket in the car, and a thermos flask and chocolate. Just in case you get stuck for any length of time.
Make sure that someone knows where you are going.

Congrats! My girlfriend just passed her driving test (took her 4 tries) and she doesn't have her own car so I haven't had to give her any driving advice yet.

The one thing that you need to remember if you are driving in an area where the roads are slick from snow ice or rain: always drive slow and pay attention to the road -especially if you are driving a rear-wheel-drive with a light back. (I crashed my 2wd pickup last year when there was only half an in of snow and I was going under the suggested speed limit!)

Congratulations!

Just take it easy when driving in snow, not too fast and use your gears to slow down, if you must brake just pump it lightly, not a full on slam dunk as this will cause skidding and never brake round corners, only on straights when the wheels are all in line.

Take care, don't drink and drive and enjoy the new found independents. I never looked back once I passed my test.

Well done

Keep your distance, keep your speed down, use your headlights, avoid using the brakes wherever possible, look well ahead and adjust your speed accordingly, especially in frosty conditions and avoid any sudden manoeuvres.

The sad part about it is that if you do all of these things and behave responsibly you will probably be the only one on the road doing so.

Be safe & if in doubt as a new driver then stay at home Happy motoring.

Congratulations.

Best advice I can think of, it keep plenty of distance between you and the car in front, and make sure all of your windows are clear of ice, as well as exterior mirrors.

In snow, use gentle throttle inputs, and brake lightly. Read the road ahead, so you can drive smoothly.

Also, have a mobile phone with you, in case you break down or get stranded.

Yey, Congratulations!!!!

Just be careful when driving in winter, rain etc reduces vivibility and stopping and braking distances are longer, so brake in good time. Also, in snow, if you skid, just turn the steering wheel in the same direction of the skid (skid right = turn right).

Hope this helps, and safe driving!

well done!!! i know the feeling when i passed last year at the same time. just make sure you do everything your driving instructor told you and forget about all the idiots on the roads and drive safe don't speed at all. keep your distance form the people in front special when its wet and snowy or icy. make sure you have your lights on. happy driving :-)

also its a high gear for snow not low!!

Congratulations! When I passed the driving test, my instructor told me I'd passed a test, now I had to learn to drive. I think he was making sure I wouldn't be over confident.

I Googled "winter driving tips" and there are loads of sites that give advice -- here's one to get you started;
