They just wanted an audience for when they tased you and put you in the back of his car. Of course he needed back up! Its routine for law enforcement to request backup as its always better to have more then 1 person at a traffic stop. Good god, what do you think he was going to challenge you to a boxing match right there and then call for back up later??

I'm throwing the BS flag again on Paul K.
6'5" and 330 is morbidly obese. You supposed size has nothing to do with anything.
We get that you don't like cops. We don't get why you think size has ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING.
We also love the fact that your questions and answers are private further leading us to KNOW that you're not that big

I wouldn't be too concerned about a guy who is nearly 100 lbs overweight. An officer should keep his distance, but seriously it would take someone that size about a full leap year to catch a cop who should be in half decent shape.

No it's not a cowardly act. He's going to need some help carrying you to his patrol car.
No sense in him hurting his back while carrying you kicking, crying, and screaming like a little school girl to jail.
You appear to be gaining weight.

In many cases now a days back up is called to just verify that the person be detained does not claim anything happened that did not in most cases the defendant does not testify so can purger themselves and get away with it.

If he is arresting you sure he should call for back up. Its better than him taking a chance and having to use the gun. Safety is the first thing a cop should be concerned about not about ego or pride. Sounds like your the one who had the attitude.

I see you gained 2 pounds. come on tubby, run. run, do jazzercise. something to get the blood pumping. and no, it is not cowardly as I normally call for backup so I can hopefully defuse the situation without one of us getting hurt. no one likes to do paperwork and there is a large amount of it in "use of force" situations.

Look who is back...Fatty McTubOfLard. We missed you and your insight, your well thought out and oh so intelligent questions. Thanks for coming back and giving us something to laugh about today.
I hear Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem could be useful to an obese fellow as yourself. You might want to check them out.
To answer your "question", I think it is very wise to call for back up as an Officer could hurt his back trying to get your blubber-butt into a squad car. Always better to have assistance so there are no needless back injuries from moving your fat carcass into a patrol car.

You're gaining weight. You were 327 last week. hahaha
Anyway. To answer your question:
No way man, we are supposed to win and we don't care if it takes 5 of us to take on 1 dude. Nowhere in my job discription does it say I'm to lose a fight. In fact I'm supposed to win all fights even if I need to whole darn force to help me.

Cops call for backup all the time. I'm not sure one is related to the other with regards to you.
