Do you see what is happening? Everyone wants to know what Mormonism is all about now, and when they find out how weird it is, it ain't gonna be pretty for you. They aren't going to find out about it from you, they'll look on the internet.

Oh sure, the other religions are just as weird - don't get me wrong, but regular Christians will think that Mormons are extremely weird and they make up a huge proportion of the country.

It's not that weird. They follow things that are a bit different than your typical Christian, but they believe Jesus showed up somewhere other than israel as well. It makes more sense to me that God would go everywhere not just the middle east, like the bible says.

Yes I am happy that he is running, and yes I think that he would make a great president. No, I do not have anything to be ashamed of regarding Mormonism. I hope that Romney's running for office might be a means to clear up so much misconception and misunderstanding about Mormonism. Some of the questions posted here reveal how much misconception is out there.
I do not see anything "weird" about the Gospel of Jesus Christ as being Mormon has brought me a lifetime of happiness.

I would be happier if a really strong fiscal conservative was actually running.
People already are very ignorant of mormons. Maybe a few of them might actually care to learn about mormons from the source. Most people that actually know mormons dont think twice about it.
Look at Romneys personal life. He has a very strong and succesful family life. His business life has been extremely succesful. He managed to become governor of one of the most liberal states in the country even though he is mormon. I dont see how anyone can look at Romney and say the guy is any weirder than anyone else. He is, in fact, a quite succesful leader. If anything Romney proves that mormons are just like anyone else.

A politician is a politician in America. If he gets elected or even if he is asked to fill a major role in the next presidency like secretary of state he will continue to be in the lime light. All people do some things that can be interpreted as offensive to another. When he makes a mistake or does something offensive it will make headlines as a LDS government leader.
Each denomination has its differences there is not a block of Christians that have the same beliefs or interpret the verses in the bible the same way whether you are Southern Baptist, Independent Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist or Church of Christ. We need a prophet like Moses or Abraham to lead us in our modern days with the scriptures of the past.

I'm not a Mormon, but Mormonism isn't all that "weird" despite the inaccuracies you see in the media. Are the foundations of Mormonism any weirder than believing a bearded magician who was the son of a fictional superhero from outer space in ancient Rome died and became a zombie who will one day return to judge us all?

What is it that you think Mormon's want to keep you from finding out?
Anna has the right idea-I don't believe in voting for or against anyone just because of their religion. What's he gonna do-pass a law forcing everyone to get baptised? Doesn't work that way.

Well, the truth is, it's so not weird, people are going to be shocked at how not weird it is.
As for the internet, it is replete with garbage and the worst source of information, and that's unfortunate that people will be looking up "mormon" on the internet.
As for Mitt Romney--it's cool that he's running. And it's sad when a capable person is only regarded as to his personal beliefs.

I'm not mormon...mormonism is a cult...I think the fact that Romney says that his religious belief won't affect his presidency says a lot about his religion. Frankly that scares me. I think if a man claims to know God and believe in Jesus and yet says that won't have any affect on his actions as president then what he's saying is that his religion isn't valid.
I am a Christian, I believe the Bible and I live according to my belief. And my belief has a strong influence on what I do. Romney is trying to straddle the fence...On one hand he's waving the 'religious' flag but on the other hand he's waving another flag which states, "Hey, I'm not religious, I just go to church to look good!"....All you have to do is look at the weather vane, whichever way the wind is blowing is the way he will go....I don't want someone over me who basically just wants to satisfy the status-quo in order to be president. I want someone who will take a stand and stick with it.
