How much money would you take with you to be satisfied?

depends on where you are going. for a trip of 800 miles both ways, i always take $60. in emergency cash and use my credit card for everything i can.
if you do not have a credit card, take $60. cash and at least $600. in travelers checks.

I would go to Brazil and take about $2000 with me. I wouldnt carry it though. You get ripped off at the exchange places in the airports and in the cities. You are better going to an ATM when you get there where you get an exchange rate of about 3 cents less than actual per dollar as opposed to 15-20 cents at the exchange places. Plus the exchange places make you pay a service fee, it was R$ 6 last week when I was there.
Also in Brazil you can sometimes negotiate a lower hotel rate if you pay in cash. I talked the place I stayed at last week down from R$85 a night to R$70 because I paid everything in cash and I paid the full amount for all 8 days about 4 days into it.

It really depends on where you are going and how long you plan to stay. Some places are more expensive than others, and overseas you may get charged more when using a credit card, so its good to have a mixture. My minimum amount is $1000 either all in cash or mixed with travelers cheques. In addition to that I always carry a credit card mainly for store purchases.

I would take about 300 in cash, for tolls, taxis, other things that only accept money... then I'd just keep your debit card on you to pay for everything else... it's never a good idea to have too much money on you!

when i went to florida for 3 weeks i took £5000, but it depends where your going, and if you'd like to buy presents for people. Also there will be lots of excursions and trips.

1500 dollars mostly in travellers checks. if you do not use them on vacation you can cash them in when you get home

i agree with 10,000 but i vacationd to hawaii and 600 wasnt enough.i guess it depends on what ur going to be doing,were ur going.credit cards are always nice!.
