My confession: I have called the Police about 100 times complaining about the road noise 300 feet from my house. (Boom boxes that shake my windows at night and wake me.) I have dealt with about 10 different policemen. And, almost all of them were "ignorant" of road noise and ignorant of most other subjects that entered our conversations. -- If you know me, you know that "discrimination" against people is not in my personality.
The question is: What occupation have you noticed is filled with a preponderance of "ignorant" people?
(I apologize for this not being a harmony inducing question, but I am curious about your experience on the subject, okay?)

Medical Doctors ~ really! They are desensitized to many things in life that its hard to read their views on many issues. They are trained from the get-go to practice this for legal reasons, but when you live with one and he comes home wearing the same "hat", its hard to solicit his definitive stance if he's sitting on the fence. Frustrating but true. I can't say he's ignorant, but moreso indifferent and unemotional.
Is that a guy-thing you think?!
But I love my Sugar-Booger-Dippity-Doodle-Noodle! {melting}

The people at my company that decided to outsource most of our IT processes to India a couple years ago. They are just now learning that might not have been the best idea and are working to make changes but it's happening very slowly...They could have consulted other companies that did the same and realized through them that it wouldn't be a good idea.
I'm not saying that the move didn't save the company some money at the time but processes are nowhere near as efficient as they were when IT was local and now they are spending more to correct problems...

A preponderance of ignorant people. Depends on what you mean by ignorant. As in, "don't listen ignorant." or as in truly ignorant of certain things in life. THe former certainly lends itself to frustration and I have encountered many along my travels in life. The latter is not as rare as you think but I have encountered a few more than I would have like. I guess the occupation with the most ignorant are likely in the medical profession. They have a lot of education but so many aren't people people ( I am a doctor by the way). I think it will vary with each answer.

An interesting question as always, Uncle Wayne, and one that's giving me a lot of pause for thought.
I honestly can't think of any occupation that's filled with ignorant people. Ignorant individuals, yes, but the entire group -- no. I've met smart cops, smart waiters, smart teachers, smart nurses and doctors, etc. And I've run onto a few dummies in every profession.
Maybe I'm just naive when it comes to people, but I always assume competency until someone proves otherwise. Usually, I've been blessed in getting what I expect out of others -- the best.
((((Uncle Waye)))) to you and yours, and wishes for a wonderful Christmas!

OK I will answer your question honestly. I readily admit that I am generalizing and being unfair when I say the following:
Carnies (you know, people who work for carnivals) uh ... do I need to elaborate?
Most, virtually all, people who work in commissioned sales are dishonest, to say the least. This includes car salesmen, real estate agents, stockbrokers and the like.
I have bought two pieces of real estate in my life. Based on my experience mortgage companies apparently go out of their way to employ the world's stupidest people. Something tells me they give an IQ test with the application, anyone scoring over 60 is disqualified.
Whew! That felt good!

Yeah, it's hard to get big city cops to enforce noise ordinances. When I lived in Boulder, they were all over that kind of thing, but that's the only place I lived where they ever seemed to care. LA, Chicago, Denver -- cops in big cities just don't care.
Anyway, I don't know. I really wonder how you could live with your own conscience if you're an oil executive or an accountant who shelters their revenue from taxes. Then again, who am I to say what these people are really like?

In my town police will ticket you if they think the sound coming from your vehicle is too loud. I do think it is kind of a enormous and possibly unrealistic task to try and contain. I often wondered if someone aks well how loud is the limit and by what device do you know I exceeded that limit that their hands would be tied. Unfortunately I don' thinkthere is a simple solution to your situation but I always keep that in mind if I want to move anywhere. Distance from the road helps.

State government--there seems to be a niche between the top & the rest of us where there are people who have been educated beyond their intelligence. They've got plenty of book smarts but barely any "walking around sense".

I have to go with the obvious...fast food workers.
I won't go so far as to lump ALL of them into one category, but there is certainly an abundance of ignorance (and attitude) employed in most of those places.

College students are about as arrogant and ignorant as they come. I should know. I was one.
