You bet there are. I've served for 15 years, and 1/3 of my unit are.

That is a myth perpetuated by xians who are too stupid to look at facts. There have been military men and women who served our country well in combat who are atheist. I never served, but if I had the choice who i was in a foxhole with, it would be an atheist. Their moral fiber comes from within and isn't dependent on an invisible deity.

I have never been in a foxhole, but I know men who were. We are atheists to the end. I have faced death, and I had no thoughts about imaginary gods. I was too busy fighting for life to waste time on any non-existent gods. this 'no atheists in foxholes' is another lie Christians tell to try to prop up their beliefs.

Though I'm not in the military (yet), I've met plenty of vets and a significant amount are fellow atheists (and still are after going through combat).

Don't forget Pat Tillman (who disbelieved, even under heavy fire up until his death), or these guys:

who receive death threats all the time from people within their own unit for being atheists, and are being refused the privilege to run atheist meetings on the basis that they don't believe in deities.

I also have countless friends in ROTC and other military prep programs that are atheists.

The myth perpetuates because religious folk like to think that the belief in deities comes to all people when their life is on the line, to reduce the credibility of atheists.
