Places to go to.

Jerusalem, or course, is incredible. Tel Aviv is a fantasic city. One of the prettiest beaches I've ever been too. There's a bar called (I think) Mike's Place, and all the Marines from the US embassy hang out there.

The Dead Sea is amazing. They sell a lot of beauty products near there (Ahava is the main brand). I came into it very skeptical about the lotions, but I got hooked. I'm not a big beauty product person, but I spent more than I should have!

near the Dead Sea is Masada. Get to know the history of the place before you go see it, and it's so much more moving.

I was disappointed with the River Jordan. It was over-commercialized and I think cheapened the whole experience. I did like Nazareth a lot.

Israel is one of the most amazing countries I've ever been too (maybe tied with Ireland, it's a close call) and I would go back in half a heartbeat.

*EDIT
Yes, it is a little crazy to see the military people. Every Israeli citizen is required to serve in the military. It's kind of funny to see a place guarded by a girl with done up hair, a tailored uniform, pink sparkly earrings, acrylic nails, and a rifle. I'm a military member myself, though, so maybe that's why I didn't think it was such a big deal.
There are metal detectors outside of the malls. So leave your guns and knives at home.
I want to note, though, that I didn't feel scared or in danger at any time. (Again, I am a member of the military, and I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but I definitly did not have a rifle with me or anything. People ask me that a lot.) I spent a good deal of time driving and walking around Tel Aviv without incident. I felt safe there.

And again, it's one of my favorite countries and I want to go back.

Eilat is awesome, great hotels and you can hang out by the beach all day and get a nice tan, or shop, in Eilat it's tax-free so it's cheap which is great,
Tel aviv has a great nightlife and shopping,
if you're more of an adventurer i'll recommend the north, there's a lot of landmarks, forests and water, and it is really beautiful.
Jerusalem if you are fascinated by zionism, israeli and jewish history and culture.

Eliat beaches and scuba diving are some of the best in the world.
Tel Aviv night life is great. Highly cultured city.
Jerusalem has its historic/religious sites.
Golan Heights is extremely interesting, too.
Masada and the Holocaust Museun at Yad Vasheem are must see places.
The Negev dessert is pretty cool, too.
Great shopping and special streets are lined with stores creating a shopper's paradise.

Eilat , Dead Sea and Jerusalem, but don't bother Barbie...

Check my Link

about Israel or Palestine

I've been twice and found it shocking.

It's small , so easy to see the sites.. but the worst thing is the Checkpoints everywhere and the terrible plight of the Palestinians....It's a Military State..You'll see schoolgirls waiting for the bus carrying an Uzi.

The Jews were persecuted by the Nazis. Now they now do the same to Palestinians?
They seem to have lost compassion and resorted to Ethnic Cleansing and Genocide as a form of Survival.

The Holocaust is being forgotten but Jewish atrocities against Palestinians are happening now..Something must be done before they are exterminated.

Why do people of the world stand by and let them get away with it. (For fear of being accused of ant-semitism.. half my family are Jews)

As people watched the persecution of the Jews in Europe

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qq2zbnin...

watch all the parts and you will understand the misery of Palestinians under Israeli Domination..Today
