Fried Spam is actually really good! Eat is like a hamburger, but that is the only way I will eat it. Otherwise it is gross. Oh and I only get the low sodium one. The regualr kind is way to salty!!

I understand that the name derives from "Spiced Ham".

My dad loves the stuff as it was a great treat to have any kind of meat during the last World War and during the period that food was rationed in the UK

I have noticed Spam Fritters on the shelves in my local Tesco, so maybe it is coming back. I expect it will be marketed as a delicacy.

I personally think it is an awful, over processed food which should be incinerated , not eaten!!

That is actually a hot item on the food bank donation list. many people use it as the entree of their meals. You can also mix it in a variety of things like macaroni, potato salad, caseroles, etc. Or you can eat it as a sandwich.

Unfortunately, I was trama tized as a child with being over-spammed & decided never to touch the stuff again!!!

Yuk! I am having flashbacks to primary school dinners with deep-fried Spam fritters! Not good!

When I used to work in Sainsburys I found it was very popular with the 60+ age group.

It might actually taste good now (!), but those school dinner memories just won't go away.

Our family was invited to the Lake for a picnic and fishing..Yes, someone fried potatoes with chopped onion and Spam. A lot of people were eating it. Personally, I don't eat pork, so I didn't try it...but it didn't smell at all bad.

When i was younger my dad would make it for my bro & me all the time. Its not that bad actually. He was a real good cook. He was in the army so i guess they would experiment w/ it. He would cut it into little square like pieces, then mix it with potatoes cut the same way, onion chopped, salt, pepper and it was real good. I'm mexican so we would put that in a tortilla & have burritos too, yummy. Reminds me of when i was younger.

Not anymore. I remember eating it when I lived a home with my parents. My mum used to make a batter for it.She would slice it, and coat it in the batter, and then if you don't mind deep fry it. Then we had to eat it. I never liked it. Since then I have never bought it. I would not dream of giving to my children.
