I was hoping some drink connoisseurs out there could help. The other day at a oriental restaurant, I had what is called a quail egg shot. It was a shot of quail egg, Saki and a splash of hot sauce or something. Anyways, it was quite pleasant and it got me wondering, what other EXTREME alcoholic ethnic/regional type mixes are out there? I can't seem to find any info. on it but I know there has to be some crazy drinks or shots out there like the quail egg shot, something alot more daring than the Singapore Sling. Hopefully some of you can give some suggestions, thanks!

PS...If you know what region/country or story that your drink comes from that would be quite helpful as well as I would find it very interesting, such as the vodka and raw clam, I wonder where that drink originated from....unless you just came up with that, lol.

Unfortunately, many alcoholic drink origins have been lost through time, but you might be able to find some information by looking for bar drink guides on the net, library, and book stores on the web and locally. And, what may be "extreme" to you, may not be to someone else: does "extreme" mean spicy? hot? exotic ingredients? Personally, I don't find the "quail egg shot" all that extreme or exotic! BTW, just because it has the words "quail egg" in it, doesn't necessarily mean a quail egg was used! At least, I hope not, or I'd really have to wonder what my "Sombrero" or "White Russian" were made of! ;)
P.S. I would have given you an "interesting" star for the question, especially since you spelled "connoisseurs" correctly ;), but, then I had to deduct points for "anywayS" and "lol" (why do people "laugh out loud" at their own jokes, especially when they're not funny? "", which means, "grin" would be more appropriate! BTW, you aren't alone in this, but I gotta start somewhere, ya know?) LOL! ;)

Skaizu,

Thanks, any advice as to searching parameters for that? I have been searching various drinking recipe sites all day and haven’t come across any sites that list anything out of the ordinary.

And, what may be "extreme" to you, may not be to someone else: does "extreme" mean spicy? hot? exotic ingredients?
True, obvious but true. I was hoping for people just to list their examples of drinks that they found exotic. Being too specific as to what I found extreme would possibly limit the answers listed and therefore contribute to the negating of any possible surprises that I hadn’t considered. In other words, it was a generalist post on purpose, but thanks for pointing out the obvious.
But, if you demand specificity, then I must add that what I really find extreme or at least what I am getting at here is exotic ingredients.

Well, I would guess that you don’t find the “quail egg shot” all that extreme or exotic is because you seem to think that the name quail egg shot doesn’t mean a quail egg was actually used. I listed the ingredients of the shot and included quail egg amongst those ingredients on purpose; an actual quail egg was used in this shot along with fish eggs. If that is not an example of extreme ingredients then I would be extremely interested in your opinion of extreme drinks.

P.S. I would have given you an "interesting" star for the question
Umm…I could really care less, I’m just trying to get some drink suggestions.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
then I had to deduct points for "anywayS" and "lol" (why do people "laugh out loud" at their own jokes, especially when they're not funny?
Why? Well, since I am sure that you have gone around with this condescending type attitude asking such pointless questions, let me be the first to clue you in on something. LOL, as you know stands for, laughing out loud. It isn’t to be taken literal, people such as you that do so are being quite melodramatic. It is not really to imply that the poster was typing and then suddenly found what he or she typed to be sooo outrageously funny that they began to laugh out loud. It is only meant to be a tone indicator so that people reading the post can understand the light-heartedness that the post was intended to read as. Are there other ways of doing this? Sure. Will you agree that it is necessary every time you hear it, I am guessing not, but nonetheless it is a whole hell of a lot easier to type lol instead of “the preceding sentence is meant to be taken in a non-serious, jokingly manner”. Grow up and stop pointing out things that take more immaturity to point out then to actually be the one doing it. And BTW, ROTFLMAO is short for Rolling On The Floor Laughing My *** Off, it too is not meant to be taken literally.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"", which means, "grin" would be more appropriate! BTW, you aren't alone in this, but I gotta start somewhere, ya know?) LOL! ;)
How on earth did you manage to type so much and yet not even come close to being the least bit helpful. I would be extremely interested in any of your suggestions as long as they have to do with this topic; otherwise you are simply being annoying. LOL @ grin would be more appropriate, what a dork, who the hell cares.
