Out of my own experience, I have traveled lots of places through the military. Kuwait and Iraq (Of course), but also Germany, France (Normandy, amazing!), Spain, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, eight US states, and I will possibly be going to Trinidad, Nicaragua, and Uruguay.

I have a friend that is a translator, and travels lots of places. Ambassadors and other politician types travel a lot too. As do entertainers.

My dad is an electrical engineer, and he's traveled to Puerto Rico, Germany, Japan, and just about every boring, flat, no-nothing US state.

Keep in mind, though, that when you travel with work, you rarely get to see all the sites you want to see.

... I'll bet a conservationist sees a lot of interesting places.

Why not chose a job you want first, and then find a place that will employ you and send you places?

Well you dont have to be a flight attendant to be able to travel the world. Just working for the airlines will most of the time give you free flight benefits. I know this because I work at an airline, in their marketing dept. If I were you I would get a job at an airlines in another dept of something you wanna do, and then use your flight benefits to travel the world.

MY husband met a woman on an airplane who had a degree in chemistry and was using it to certify vineyards around the world. She would "follow the crush" from vineyard to vineyard and work about 4-6 weeks straight (long hours, mostly 7 days a week), and then have 4-6 more weeks to spend in that area (still being paid, mind you-- though on call) traveling around, on vacation. Then she's move to the next area. Each year she would visit California, New Zealand/Australia, South Africa, France/Germany and Chile. Perfect if you're single, and you'd make GREAT $$.

Happy Holidays!!

Be the best & fluent in as many languages possible English & maybe French or Italian or German although English seems to work and be the very best bartender. You can then can move from one country to another knowing all of their favourites and most of the high tech drinks requested. One drink can have a different name in every country you should know the names in each country - it's simple, just not easy and a lot of homework on this one. Just know all of the names & ingredients. I had a Canadian friend who did this for years in Europe: Private homes, Castles, Hotels, Bistros. I don't actually think it's pertinent but she is very pretty & very well educated. Actually married very well & they are very happy with children but that was not the purpose of her travel experience. In North America - be nice & give them exactly what they ask for.
