GPS System question - Very Easy if you own one?

Do you just type in where you want to go?

Does the system know where you are at?

How does it work?

New ones are voice prompted.
It knows where you are and says destination please in a nice female voice.
You then say the address of your destination and it will tell you as you drive what you have to do. The screen will show you a map also with details such as ETA and turns.
