It's more likely that believing in God is just what some people want so they can deal with life and have an answer but it only raises many more questions than it answers.
Here are some examples of what I wonder:
1) God created everything. This is easy to see because nothing is creating by nothing, right?
Well, who created God? Nobody is what some will say because God always existed... well, that contradicts the logic for believing that everything has to have a creator.
2) God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. If those are all true:
Well, If a woman is raped then is God not aware? Is he not present, and therefore, not aware? Or, does he simply not care? Bad things happen in the world and you can't have an all knowing, all loving and all present God and that be true. It's more likely that some people do not consider the golden rule when making decisions and laws and punishment are the remedy... not a book.
3) We die and go to Heaven if we're saved and accept Christ.
(child example):
Do you spend eternity as a child or an adult? What if you're an infant? Do you go to heaven as an infant or an adult? Why would you be an infant for eternity? How would you be an adult without ever having developed into an adult? What if you die at childbirth and are not saved? Do you go to Hell?
(adult example)
What if Adolf Hitler (who was Christian and saved as a child) prayed before his death? Would it be fair to allow a sick son-of-a-b*tch in Heaven but deny a child? What kind of logic is there in that? For that matter why would an all knowing God create a system where he could be so easily duped? Sounds more like God is either a not-so intelligent being if he exists at all.
4) God only accept those that accept him?
Why would God want to recruit the stupidest people for his Army against Satan? If he is building an Army, should he make everyone know of his existence? Would you play a sport and not advertise to every possible athletic to get the best recruits?
5) I chose to believe in God. You choose to believe?
Well, that's a problem there... you don't choose to believe just like I don't choose to get angry when someone offends me. Belief is based on hearing, seeing, smelling, touching or tasting something and the mind reacting. If you have to "choose" to believe then you already know it's a crock.
6) You have to believe something. Really?
Does that imply that you have to have some God because that's what people do? Is it not an individuals choice to do what he or she wants with their one life? Isn't Science something to believe in?
7) Life has to have a meaning. Really?
Are we taught so many fairy tales as a child that life now has no meaning unless it has some fantastic, magically ending where we all live happily ever after? That's just sad. I love life and do not try to put an arbitrary meaning on it.
8) What if you're wrong? (question to Atheist)
Do you have time to worship every God out there in order to live life? If you do, are you not committing a sin against one of those Gods?
9) Prove there is no God.
No, that's your problem. You can't prove outlandish claims with unprovable questions. That burden is yours.
10) You have to believe in God in order to have moral guidance.
Wow! The Bible talks about God killing, him instructing people to kill and it even instructs you to kill. This doesn't seem like a very good morale fabric to me. Sounds more like the ramblings of a child rather than an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent being. Why take guidance from him? By the way, these are Gods words right? If they are not then why follow them. If they are, why did he never condemn oppressing women and slavery? Are these good starts to a morale society? Well, I'm afraid that I will not be signing up then...

God is the living force that exists in every living being. It is the Divine Light / Absolute Knowledge / our True Self - the pure Soul within each of us.
God never does anything, it only knows. When we die it is this living force that leaves the body after which the person cannot know or understand anything.
Evil happens because of lack of knowledge of our true self and the false belief that I am 'XYZ'. This ego makes a person do all the evil and wrong things and in the process brings impurities on the soul.
As the ego dissolves, the soul purifies and gets enlightened.
Yes, we all encounter God every now and then. Properties of God are unconditional - love, happiness, Peace, Awareness. Whenever you experience any of these, that's when you encounter God.

There are over 6 billion humans on this planet. Have you ever imagined that in every minute that passes by, how much evil and negative things we have been doing to ourselves and others. This has accumulated to such an extent that it has become a really huge load for us as well as for the supreme forces. They are venting their anger on innocents for the evil done by a certain number of rotten-skulled people here.
All of you out there just keep on blaming God for everything. Have you ever asked yourself why all this is happening? Who is behind this? What is the real reason to these occurences? Have you ever come to the conclusion that we and only we are responsible for all that is happening to us? Expand your mind, think from a different dimension, your questions will get resolved.

I really, truly believe in God. I know it's hard to believe that He exists when there is so much evil in the world. Have you seen the preview for I Am Legend? He says it perfectly. He says, "God didn't do this, we did this", in reference to the topic of the movie. But it rings true in the real world as well. God gave us free will and all of the evil in this world has been caused by the actions of someone! And if there was no suffering, we wouldn't need God. God does his best work in times of trouble, when we call upon him. It's a hard concept, and faith is needed to bridge the gap between logic and being a believer because not everything can be answered!
All I know is that he's truly taken care of me and my family. We have been through some ROUGH stuff and if it weren't for him, who knows where we would be!

Answer to Number 1. Yes
Answer to #2 why so much evil takes place?
Suffering is the result of human sin. The world is not the way that God created it and because of that, all are vulnerable to the affects of sin in the world. Why does one person suffer and another does not? Why do catastrophes happen to some and no others? It is because sin is in the world. But there will come a day when the Lord will return and cleanse this world of all sin and all suffering.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away" (Rev. 21:4).
Answer to # 3 was answered already .
Answer to # 4 Yes, I have encountered Him.
It is a knowing of a knowing that takes place when a person is saved, 1Cr 2:10 But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1Cr 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
This is something a non-believer has the ability to comprehend, to them ...it all sounds like foolishness.
1Cr 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

YES, but to answer your question.,Why does God allow suffering? If Jehovah God is all-powerful, loving, wise, and just, why is the world so full of hatred and injustice? Have you ever wondered about these things yourself?
People of various religions have gone to their religious leaders and teachers to ask why there is so much suffering. Often, the response is that suffering is God’s will and that he long ago determined everything that would ever happen, including tragic events. Many are told that God’s ways are mysterious or that he brings death upon people—even children—so that he can have them in heaven with him. As you have learned, though, Jehovah God never causes what is bad. The Bible says: “Far be it from the true God to act wickedly, and the Almighty to act unjustly!”—Job 34:10.
Do you know why people make the mistake of blaming God for all the suffering in the world? In many cases, they blame Almighty God because they think that he is the real ruler of this world. They do not know a simple but important truth that the Bible teaches.
ALL of us make deliberate choices. We do it every day. Most of our decisions have to do with the trivia of daily life—what to eat, what to drink, what to wear, where to go. But some decisions have graver consequences that can affect us for the rest of our lives—or can even shorten our lives.
The real ruler of this world is Satan the Devil.
The Bible clearly states: “The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” (1Â John 5:19) When you think about it, does that not make sense? This world reflects the personality of the invisible spirit creature who is “misleading the entire inhabited earth.” (Revelation 12:9) Satan is hateful, deceptive, and cruel. So the world, under his influence, is full of hatred, deceit, and cruelty. That is one reason why there is so much suffering.
A second reason why there is so much suffering is that, as discussed in Chapter 3, mankind has been imperfect and sinful ever since the rebellion in the garden of Eden. Sinful humans tend to struggle for dominance, and this results in wars, oppression, and suffering. (Ecclesiastes 4:1; 8:9) A third reason for suffering is “time and unforeseen occurrence.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) In a world without Jehovah as a protective Ruler, people may suffer because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It is comforting for us to know that God does not cause suffering. He is not responsible for the wars, the crimes, the oppression, or even the natural disasters that cause people to suffer. Still, we need to know, Why does Jehovah allow all this suffering? If he is the Almighty, he has the power to stop it. Why, then, does he hold back? The loving God that we have come to know must have a good reason.—1Â John 4:8.
Like Jeremiah of old, they will learn this vital truth: “I well know, OÂ Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”—Jeremiah 10:23.

Yes I absolutely believe in God - with all my heart. The reason why so much evil takes place is because of sin.

I believe in God. God is LOVE. I don't think It's a "he" - and I don't think It's a big Daddy in the sky that judges and grants wishes and makes bad things happen sometimes.
God is simply the power of LOVE. We can use It if we choose. Sometimes bad things happen. It doesn't have anything to do with God. But we can USE God to make things better - because - God is LOVE.
Have I ever encountered "him" - no. But I have encountered "It." I see God when somebody smiles at me. I feel It when I get a hug. I hear It when my kid says "I love you big bunches!" Those things are all God.
Namaste!

God is not a person who is going to meet us walking on the street. You can understand (at the level of inference) or realise THAT, if you want to. It's your journey and others belief will not help you at all.
Duality has Good and Evil, Day and Night, Happiness and Sadness, Love and Hate, which are basic ingredient of existence. It will stay as it is, no matter what we do!
