My fiance was just prescribed antidepressents and the doctor said that there would be sexual side effects such as no desire for it, no ability to get in the mood, etc. How often do those side effects really take place and what can i do as his fiance to help keep our intimacy normal?

These drugs have long lasting effects. I took them 20 years ago and stopped after 6 months. Still, it takes me 30 to 40 minutes of ruff foreplay to get back to normal.

No side effect is likely to be in such medication.......so far as sexual urge is concerned, if proper medicine is prescribed by the doctor.
When a person is highly depressed , his desire to have sex hardly occurs. After proper therapy , everything will be fine.

Talk to your doctor about changing your dose.
Consider a drug that requires only a once-a-day dose, and schedule sexual activity before taking that dose.
Talk to your doctor about adding or switching to an antidepressant that may counteract these effects, such as bupropion (Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR, Wellbutrin XL) or mirtazapine (Remeron, Remeron SolTab).
Talk to your doctor about taking a medication intended to directly treat sexual dysfunction.
Talk to your doctor about a "drug holiday" — stopping medication for a day or so each week.

anti depressant really caused side effects because it stimulate or relaxing our body temperature to very low degree it can give us relax and feeling of restlessness and immediately give us a deep sleep bu in this kind of antidepressant our natural rhythm of sleep disturbs and relies only to the tablets you cannot sleep even more w/out these like me ive been using sleeping pills but I discovered I didn't arouse every morning like before (every men should) and the thing is these antidepressant I never take it anymore since I discovered it that the reason of my not arouse and desire for sex is antidepressant tablet

Go to www.medlineplus.gov and you can read up on practically any drug and its side effects. Make sure you know the name of the drug. If you would have posted it I could have done this for you. One rather strange side effect of antidepressants is an increased possibility of suicide.

I take Effexor, and so does my fiance. Neither of us have ANY noticeable side-effects. Not all pills work for all people, though. Effexor is the only anti-depressant I can take. You should talk to a doctor about this.
