Life isn't a kind of substance, energy that is somehow contained in something. It is a vague list of symptoms that we have loosely assigned the term.

When we say something is alive, we're saying that it has enough of those characteristics that we making that judgment.

Those characteristics include the ability to replicate, to metabolize resources around it, and to pass some kind of genetic information down through the lineage.

The whole thing started when a few carbon atoms happened to form a type of chain that can replicate. Once that happened, it converted most of the carbon atoms around it into those chains. At that point, you could say it met the requirements to be called life, though it would have been a very trivial example of life. Such types of chains have been found naturally occurring.

As for books to read, I would recommend most of what Dawkins wrote on the subject. It's geared towards laypersons, like yourself, and may be easier to understand.

Pray and ask for information of the bible and could provide it to you. Use the bible and not the rest as your handbook.

I don't have the time to give you such an in depth science lesson. Nothing came from the dead though. Death is something that happens at the end of life.

Life is not something that is fundamentally different from nonlife. It's just a name we give to the category of stuff that reproduces via DNA.

You do know that abiogenesis is in its infancy, right? You guys have had close to two thousand years to prove your case and have not met that time line, and you want scientists to give you evidence of something for which we are just now (within the last fifty years) able to devise proper experiments?

life is an unusually complex reaction of organic chemicals.

the world is full of chemical reactions:- some simpler, some more complex.

where you have a range of chemical reactions one will be the most complex.

i am afraid i cannot explain this simply enough for you to understand.
