Yes it is a tradegy but this is what makes me sick. Was nobody else in that mall carrying? If they were, why didn't they shoot back. I will tell you what, the time someone finally steps up and guns down one of these sad sacks on a rampage. It will vindicate all reasons why more people should carry guns.

Hi Jason, you would think that if someone was carrying they would take this wack job out, however I really dont think that many people carry, esp at places like a mall, I mean who would think such a thing could happen there, and then theres the other issue, in the laws eyes as unfortunate as it is, its the way it is,, the person shooting the wack job is and will be just in much trouble as the wj, there are cases where the person defending others and does harm to the suspect is actually SUED by the suspect and the suspect WINS!! our law system is so screwed up, there is a problem when the victim can be sued by the criminal, and the criminal wins. these rampages are becoming out of hand, ie the one in DC, the woman and her 3 kids that were killed, she worked for the same company I work for.

Nottwosh, I had no idea! but if someone was carrying at that time, perhaps it happened so fast no one had time to react.

In theory the carry law should work. In my state most stores (schools obviously)have a sign at the entry banning guns. I don't know how many people actually pay attention to the signs. I am sure that they still walk in since the gun would be concealed. Would the person carrying a gun in a store that banned them get in trouble for self defense? Would they be open to a lawsuit if the attacker was taken down by them? I bet you with the crazy lawsuits these days they would.

Firearms are not allowed in shopping malls. Either visible or concealed.

The irony of this law is that law abiding citizens could stop massacres like this if they were allowed to carry their firearm, but suicidal punks and terrorists will not obey a "no firearms" rule, so the responsible law-abiding citizen is left in a position where they cannot defend themselves.

The shooting which took place in a Utah mall in February was ended by an off-duty police officer who was carrying. He was carrying illegally, however no charges were made.

This is just one of the reasons why I don't shop in the mall or go to crowded places. I would rather not shop than to think about which gun I should take with me just in case I need to shoot someone to protect myself and others. But for those that do enjoy the mall, I agree that you need some kind of protection from the crazies. I feel so sorry for what this world has become.

I agree with you. Too bad most people see the solution to all these shootings is banning guns when really the solution is the opposite.

When you outlaw guns, only Outlaws will have guns!

More people may have got hurt if a fire fight ensued and I can guarantee people would have been suing the person trying to defend them...go figure!

You can get a good laser at a good price if you lack aim. They aren't that expensive.
If you don't want to be killed or sued, you shoot to kill and keep at it untill the bullets are out.

"(schools obviously)have a sign at the entry banning guns"

Which makes one wonder why school shootings are still on the rise....

maybe it was too full of people to get a safe shot at him
and its a hell of a responsibility because so much could go wrong its best left to trained police marksmen
who are watching body language to predetermine what this person is likely to do or go next and is he well trained with a firearm ex army or whatever ,you dont know what you could be letting your self in for or if you will worsen the situation.
