Yes, it is upsetting to see an animal that has passed away. Most of the time it is a natural process, still sad. What makes me truly sad is when people believe that animals have no emotions and they are just programmed objects, so they kill them for sport. People who kill for sport should be hunted for sport as well. See how that feels.

At 12:15 two flying objects collided in midair, a large Sparrow and a Bumblebee. Only two fatalities were recorded in the accident. Nobody on the ground was hurt. Names are being witheld pending notification of relatives.

No. I see way worse on a daily basis. I see all kinds of bloody road-kill DAILY. I see cats, dogs, birds, skunks, squirrels, deer, etc killed on the side of the road because they were hit by a car, and then they continue to be hit with car after car, and their guts get all strung out across the road.

My question is "What killed this bird?" and my other question is "Why is there a dead bug laying next to this dead bird?"

Cheers

Yer but isn't that a beetle in the picture as well maybe it's a ''there's 2 sides to every story'' the bird might of been dive bombing that poor little beetle, misjudged the ground distance & knocked it's self out..

Maybe he's just pining for the fjords??

Seriously though, it's a very good picture, made more so by the discussion it's provoking. Not all photographs have to be of fluffy kittens or sunsets you know...

Yes - to change a poem a little, "The death of anything diminishes me"
Yesterday, I looked into the eyes of a very loved silver tabby cat which had acute kidney failure, before burying her in the garden and was reminded of that poem then.
"Seek not to ask for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee".
Death is such a waste.

No it's a natural thing for a bird to die every one and thing has to die at some point at least it doesn't look like it was mauled to death by my cat which wouldn't be such a nice image it looks more like it's taking a nap than dead

No, it's just photographic evidence of the circle of life, but if I were the bird's family I would be upset, because it shows no respect for the dead.

It is sad but is very artistic and symbolic in a way. But I guess an picture of a dead thing is always gonna be sad.
