How can you say he hasn't got a face? How disrespectful is that? Of course he has a face, just because its different than yours doesn't mean he hasn't got one!
The surgical procedures have improved vastly over the last few years so this is why he can have this tumour removed now rather than when he was younger, the risks would have been a lot higher then.
Are who making a martyr out of him?
He made his own medical decisions.

News organizations have noted that the patient has been inactive for many years, and is not even associated with a particular congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
In fact, the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses does train and maintain two separate groups of elders to assist with medical matters.
1. Hospital Information Services (and local Liaison Committees) generally work with medical professionals to educate and promote alternatives to blood use.
2. Hospital Visitation Group (sometimes called "Pastoral Services") generally works directly with patients associated with Jehovah's Witnesses regarding any issue of concern to them
Of course, a typical Witness also involves his congregation's elders during a health crisis.

What??? Notice it said this was a newly availible procedure. I am sure he did receive suggestions from members of the congregation, just because something is now availible doesn't me he, and his friends weren't searching.

There re three main thrust to the law of God given to Israelites in the desert.
1. Symbolism of their covenant with God as His chosen people, and foreshadowing of the Messiah to come.
2. Dietary Laws to keep people healthy in a hot climate with no
refrigeration, reducing the opportunity for pathogens.
3. Ambassador and example to the surrounding nations, that the blessings and success from these system of laws would be so compelling others might be persuaded to follow.
A subject in that system of laws is the blood. The use of the disposition of, the eating of etc.
So some laws tell you drain out the blood before eating the meat as any butcher or hunter will tell you, leave the blood in spoil the meat. Gen 9:4,
Other laws tell you blood is life do not treat it cheaply, it represents the life force, [Gen 9:4, Lev. 17:11,14; Deut. 12:23] offer it as a a sacrifice, dispose of it respectfully do not eat it. [Ex. 29:16; Lev. 3:2]
Jesus speaking of the religious leaders of his day said beware...
Mat 23:4"They tie up heavy burdens and lay them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are unwilling to move them with so much as a finger.
They complained about fasting because Jesus disciplines gleaned some grain.
The complained about the Sabbath because Jesus went about and healed and functioned fully on the Sabbath.
Jesus pointed out their hypocrisy in their FULL obedience to the law.
WHILE THEY OBEYED THE LETTER OF THE LAW THEY DID NOT FULFILL THE SPIRIT OF THE LAW.
So Jesus asked which one of you have one donkey{(one car), (one life), (one child)} and it fell down a well on the Sabbath would not rescue it.
Jesus asked them Mark 2:26 what about David when he was hungery eating the consecrated bed on the altar, that LAWFULLY only priest can eat. And David was held not guilty.
Mark 2:27And Jesus said to them, The Sabbath was made on account and for the sake of man, not man for the Sabbath;
So I say to this young man with one life to live, being burdened down by the laws of man. God is not honored in this, His Spirit is grieved that you suffer so. It would be interesting to note how much technology[not available to the common JW member] the wealth of the JW leadership has afforded them to employ in the pursuit of their own and their families' health.
Mat 23:13-14 13But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces; for you neither enter yourselves, nor do you allow those who are about to go in to do so.
14Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders (hypocrites)! For you swallow up widows' houses and for a pretense to cover it up make long prayers; therefore you will receive the greater condemnation and the heavier sentence.
Now I realize the JW has view of Christ as "special man but nevertheless mere man with great roles and titles", this is problematical. If the cure for the disease of sin is seen as not been efficacious, then the substitute, “good works of man” has to be better.
