Generally the ones that are most used are the most effective. The top ones are: Prozac, Lexapro, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Celexa, and Zoloft. I have not read that any of these are effective for more than 62% of people who try them.

Everybody is different. U have 2 find the most effective medicaiton 4 u i started off on seroxat, but didnt work so now on effexor which is muich better. u cant really say which is the most effective because everyone will react differnelty. Ity usually takes 3 weeks to be effective. To make the antidepressant more effective stay away from alcohol. This is a depressant so works against the antidepressnast. Generaly results.... kick starts your brain so you feel more positive and wanting to do things. The medication helps you to get going but after that its up to you. Keep active!! good luck Try effexor. its good:)

Depression is a complex illness, having different causations and effects in different people. Individual metabolisms response to drugs also vary, so it is not surprising there is no one drug that suits all. It is a matter of trial and error to get the right one for some people but in the main most people get some benefit from first or second choice.
Depending on the level of the depression, studies show antidepressants work best in combination with psychotherapy.

I have tried a few different ones and as any mental health issue is often changeable and i'm up, down, psycho then insular...i think there isn't a particular one that 'works best'. But i keep taking mine and review my progress with the GP.

They tell me, it really depends on your individual illness. They are many on the market. Some work for some people, some don't. Doctors will tell you it is trial and error. It boils down to what works for you, unfortunately that can take years of suffering before you find what works and what dosage will work.

It really depends on the person.
The best one I've been on is mirtazapine, but I was on it so long that it stopped working.
I hated venlafaxine, but I know of people who say it saved their life.
They affect everyone differently, so it really is a matter of finding one that works for you.
