Isn't that a bit like overkill? Surely one of those crazy dudes is enough?
From a purely objective perspective of course.

Nero was the man who brought an end to the origional Jewish Christianity. So to them he was the anti christ, as he murded hundreds of them.

The modern anti christ, must be seen as a christian who apears to be good and honest. He will then show his true colours, and how he has decieved the christian masses into false worship..!!

Firstly, Nero was not the Antichrist. The real Antichrist has not yet been revealed. Every generation has searched for him; and often have felt that it was a tyrannical dictator/conqueror in their era (as in Hitler, Mussolini, or nowadays President Bush, etc.) Some people have always suspected the Pope. But the truth is, none of the historical tyrants have been "the Antichrist", but many have been antichrists. An antichrist is a false Christ who rules in defiance of God yet tries to act as a Messiah or Christ. And a lot of our history's past dictators have fit that description. There is no way to tell when "the Antichrist" will appear, but the movement of Antichrist is already here in preparation for him, so I don't think it's too far off. The satanically inspired Antichrist movement is all about cursing God and demeaning God's dignity -- and giving the government God's place. The purpose is to get people to stop believing in God so they can establish a Universal False Religion. This religion will be highly Luciferian and Antichrist will eventually emerge as the leader; his image will be put up everywhere around the world. If anyone refuses to worship that image, that person will be killed by government order. George Orwell described a similarity to this in his book, 1984, which he tells of a totalitarian government and a communist dictator named "Big Brother" whose picture is posted everywhere with the slogan, "Big Brother is Watching You!". Under such a police state, those who do not give it total allegiance will die. Also, the Bible states that the Antichrist is going to control all the commerce and that only if you accept "his mark" will you be allowed to buy or sell. Our monetary system is completely controlled - the trend towards a cashless society further demonstrates a clear sign of the direction we are heading.

The Anti Christ has a specific mission. Many 'antichrist's ' have existed and will exist. THE Antichrist will come during a specific time yet to occur. Revelation tells us a great deal about this individual, as does Daniel, 1 Thessalonians, and the Gospels. (Matthew 24&25) I have written a six part series on the subject, and the study of it can be very exciting. Nero was in fact an antichrist, but certainly could never quality as THE antichrist.

The apostle John is the only Bible writer to use the word “antichrist.” In two of the letters bearing his name, the word appears five times, in both the singular and the plural. From these verses, we can see that the antichrist is a liar and a deceiver, bent on destroying a person’s relationship with Christ and with God. Accordingly, the apostle urged his fellow Christians: “Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.”—

“Young children, it is the last hour [evidently the end of the apostolic period], and, just as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now there have come to be many antichrists.”—1 John 2:18.

“Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one that denies the Father and the Son.”—1 John 2:22.

“Every inspired expression that does not confess Jesus does not originate with God. Furthermore, this is the antichrist’s inspired expression which you have heard was coming, and now it is already in the world.”—1 John 4:3.

“Many deceivers have gone forth into the world, persons not confessing Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.”—2 John 7.

The word “antichrist” applies to all who deny what the Bible says about Jesus Christ, all who oppose his Kingdom, and all who mistreat his followers. It also includes individuals, organizations, and nations that falsely claim to represent Christ or that improperly ascribe to themselves the role of Messiah by presumptuously promising to achieve that which only Christ can do—bring about true peace and security.

Look at 2 John 7. There are several antichrists. Also look at 1 John 2:22. They aren't all crazy dudes with power but deceivers that pull people away. They have been with us ever since the beginning of the Church, 1 John 4:1-3. Also the word antichrist never appears in the book Revelation. The word only appears 5 times and only in 1 John and 2 John. It appears in a plural form twice.

Nero wasn't the antichrist. If he was, then all of Revelation would have happened already. Has there ever been a time in history when the sun was darkened, the moon turned red, and the stars fell from heaven? Has there ever been a true global earthquake? No? That's right, because the antichrist has not yet come and neither have the events prophesied in Revelation.

There is lots of disagreement about how to interpret the book of Revelations. Some see it as a warning about the antichrist being always present through all time until the ultimate antichrist comes. Others, of course, see it pertaining only to the actual end times.

In the Bible, it was required of a prophet that if he gave a prophecy that would not be fulfilled within his lifetime (so that they could check the accuratcy of it), then he had to also give a prophecy that would happen in the immediate future. If the "immeditate" event failed, then they would reject the future prophecy.

Often the prophet would give one prophecy, and it would have a fulfill first in the prophets lifetime, but also look ahead to a future event. One of the best know of those prophecies was about the virgin birth of Jesus. Isaiah predicted that a "young woman" would conceive a child of great importance. It was fulfilled in Isaiah's lifetime when his own wife conceived a son. But it looked ahead to the birth of Jesus over 500 years later.

Many of the prophecies in Jesus's Olivet Discourse on the End Times and in the Book of Revelation had a fulfillment in the lifetime of the apostles. The destruction of Temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD was a foreshadowing of the events that will be repeated in the Last Days.

So Nero appears to be in foreshadowing of the Anti-Christ who will appears in the Last Days. His purpose was to show us that the End Time porphecies are reliable, since the "immediate" events came to pass.

Nero was not the Antichrist. (Neither was Hitler.) The Antichrist will have a lot more power and influence than Nero ever did.

Nero was insane and evil but he is not the anti-Christ. The book of Revelations in the bible will explain who he is.

The Anti Christ is a God Hater..and that "spirit" is in the world today and practiced by All who Hate God and His people (sound familiar to you) we have some on this site who claim to be Anti God.
This is the same spirit as the Anti-Christ has..however...he is a political leader and will be possessed by Satan.
