i'd like to experience it first-hand, but all the pagans i know of are either wiccan or wicca-ish, with a heathen thrown in here and there.

thanks for the links, deporodh. yes, i'm looking for reconstructionists. i'm active in a number of pagan groups locally, and we all use roman gods, but our rituals are almost always wiccan in format. i'd like to experience a classical ritual so i can better absorb it.

If I understand you correctly, you would like to connect with Roman reconstructionist pagans. You may very well find such among the very people you are excluding from your search. I know a couple who worship the Brittano-Roman deities (although they are not midwest, they are northern New England), but they started out as Wiccan with no distinctive sub-labels.

There are groups that call themselves simply Wiccan or Pagan who work with Egyptian deities, or continental Gaulish deities, or Norse deities. So you may need to allow more conversational time with some of those you have met.

For example, people may just describe themselves as a druid, but be members of Ar n'Draoicht Fein (ADF) who work within that U.S. national organization with Roman deities.
