No. I spend enough time at work with those people.

Hi.
When I worked in the corporate world, I always went to the Christmas parties.
It was pretty much expected that you attend; and most were actually fun. It is a good way to network with other people & get to know the upper-level people if you wanted to advance in your career. However, it is always important not to get drunk, because that is never forgotten; and your reputation is shot.
A couple of parties I went to were very glamorous. The women dressed up in floor-length gowns. We had a hotel suite rented for us so we could get showered & changed. Many of them were lots of fun.
Of course, there are always the ones that are totally lame. These are the ones where the party is actually in the office; and food/drinks are catered.
It's up to you. If your party is not a fancy one in a classy place, don't bother. If it's not somewhere where you can mingle with people you normally don't get a chance to speak to, don't bother. If you have a lot of great friends on the job, & you see it as a fun way to get together, then go anyway. You might just find it gets you in the Christmas mood.
If you stay home, play some Christmas music & have a glass of wine & some cheese & crackers. Maybe you can put the tree up.
Whatever you do, have a Merry Christmas.

Mine is tonight too. They are so lame and boring, but it will be my last one here, so I'll go. Last year I won a cool prize and my son and his friend got a little something, so I guess it was OK, I attend for political reasons I guess, because I do not really care and rather be in my jammies at home.
Check this:
A few years back, after the company's Holiday function, I was helping cleaning up the tables and putting stuff away in the refrigerators when a 400 pound woman came to tell me that I didn't need to take all of those leftovers home and that I could share my goodie plates with others. I felt so insulted! I guess she was still "hungry". I didn't return to the company's holiday function until last year.
Good luck

Ours is next week. Me and 8 firends organised our own, a meal out in Edinburgh.
This week one of our friends won tickets for the Jingle Ball, through the local radio station. This means we get VIP access to a club on the same night as out party. Yippeee!

We're having a post-Christmas party in February. That way more people will be able to go.

My husbands company party is tomorrow (8th Dec). I'm not looking forward to it.
He is going to teach me how to dance in front of everyone. Which should be fun and nerve racking.
