i know it shouldnt be one from nights out or that cos it sends out the wrong impression so should it be a nice smiley photo, that reflects you in a way that connects to the job or just like a grumpy and plain old passport type pic?

You could request as to why they need a photo - some companies do this simply to discriminate - looks are often seen just as important, if not more so, than experience. However, as someone else has stated - if it is for media work then that would be entirely different - if so don't you have a portfolio?

Normally a photo, if it is for security purposes, would be asked for when you attend the interview.

If you don't mind being judged by this method then I would simply get a passport shot done but putting on your 'best face'....rather than one needed for an actual passport!

Hi

You should have a photo in the style of a passport type. However, it dont need to be a serious one link a passport. One of you smilling and looking relaxed is best. Be well dressed for the photo in a suit etc.

Use a good quality paper if adding a photo.

Have your cv in a nice coloured plastic covered folder. This will get your cv noticed if there are 100s of applicants.

Regards,

Andy

I've never had to include a photo when applying for a job. If they need a picture for an ID or something, they should be taking it there. If you do need to include one with the application for some reason, make sure that it's work appropriate - something you wouldn't mind your parents seeing.

Call the grad school admissions office and ask the percentage of responses who include a picture. Ask your current school's admissions office about this. Do you have a quality photo to include? Is there anything about your appearance that is negative? Celebrate that you don't have to submit a video! Take the best, leave the rest. Sharon

I do not recommend attaching a photo on your CV/resume/application unless it relates to the job (actor, model, etc.). You are hopefully being hired for your skills, qualifications and experience not your physical appearance. If you absolutely feel the need to attach a photo, a professional face shot will suffice; although as a recruiter, photos on resumes were a turn off and it usually sent off the wrong impression.

A studio picture, posed. Head and shoulders. Suit and tie for men, jacket and blouse with no cleavage for women.

Only include a photo if it is requested.

A plain old 'grumpy' passport photo is all that it is required. I NEVER included one though.

It would be interesting to know what kind of job this is? Why do they need a photo? It generally just isn't relevant.

You shouldn't include a photo with your resume or job application.
