A very meaningful and touching prayer. I like the message and thank God, you are one among the few who have written a prayer here. Mostly written are poem but good ones though.
Hope you could share it to many. Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

Actually its not a prayer at all. As a matter of fact this is a statement of a person who is does not believe in Him at all. Please see my comments on every line of your text.
Surround me, dear God,
With Thy holy presence; -- HE IS ALWAYS SURROUNDING US BUT WE DO NOT THINK HE IS.
Let Thy shadow and Thy light
Transcendant shine. -- HIS LIGHT ALWAYS SHINE BUT WE DO NOT WANT TO SEE THAT LIGHT.
Keep me within Thy warmth and circle,
Protect my island of life
In this vast universe cast adrift; -- HE ALWAYS PROTECTS AND LOVES EACH LIVING BEING HE HAS CREATED.
Next to Thy heart I lay my mind. -- THIS IS SOMETHING WE NEVER DO.
Circle of Thy presence,
Close embracing, all sustaining,
Guide me through this darkness,
Guide me by Thy Light-- WE NEVER FULLY SURRENDER TO HIM TO TAKE HIS GUIDANCE.
Bid my tumbling thinking cease. -- WE NEVER CEASE OUR THINKING
And when I am submerged
In final transport, -- WE NEVER LET GO OF THINKS SO THAT WE CAN BE FULLY SUBMERSED
Far beyond Orion's electric pools,
Or the eye-whorls of universal space,
May I make my journey
Safely in the absence of else --
But Thy infinite Grace! -- WE ALWAYS HOLD ON TO WHAT WE POSSESS SO WE NEVER RECEIVE HIS GRACE>
If fact mate most sincere prayer in my opinion would be that we are the most unfortunate and unworthy of his Sons that we are not even receptive of His divine grace. May he do something to make us more receptive to his Grace. Ameen.
Regards

Yes as long as one understand that God is The Supreme Person and that that embrace is Gods loving arms around one not just the light. Then one can actually understand this prayer. It is a matter of Personalism or Voidism. One can see it in both ways, but impersonal voidism is incomplete and makes my mouth want to spit, because it negates the Supreme Personality of Godhead as Personal and Supreme. My Favorite is. "My dear lord Kindly remove your glaring effulgence, so I can see your smiling Transcendental loving face." I would much rather embrace a person than light even if it is Gods.

Universally acclepted best prayer is :-
"All praise be to God, who created and maintains this universe
The Beneficent and the most Compassionate!
The Lord of the Day of Judgement!
Thee alone we worship; Thee alon we ask for help!
Show us the straight path!
The path of thosewhom Thou has favoured!
Not of thosewho earn Thine anger nor of those who gonastray!"

It’s futile to dig in the ashes of past and crystal gaze into future requesting for something. This is eternal conflict between "being" and "becoming". I think your prayer falls into later category. Present is a state of no-mind and is the point-of-existence. In present you loose the concept of time, space and unit.

The best prayer out there is the prayer that you choose to use when you give your life to Christ! After that, you just grow more and more and do what it takes to not look back. God Bless!!!!! Romans 12:12

An incantation for an negatively ill conception for the whole universe, Gods very creation. It is sweet but bogus.
The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative.

Alas for those who spend their days
In festive mirth and joy:
The dazzling, deadly, liquid forms
Their hearts fore’er employ.
The shining bottles charm their eyes
And draw their heart’s embrace;
The slaves of wine can never rise
From what we call disgrace.
Was man intended to be
A brute in work and heart?
Should man, the Lord of all around,
From common sense depart?
Man’s glory is in common sense
Dictating us thy grace;
That man is made to live and love
The beauteous Heaven’s embrace.
The flesh is not our own alas;
The mortal frame a chain;
The soul confined for former wrongs
Should try to rise again.
Why then this childish play in that
Which cannot be our own;
Which falls within a hundred years
As if a rose ablown.
Our life is but a rosy hue
To go ere long to naught;
The soul alone would last fore’er
With good or evil fraught.
How deep the thought of times to be!
How grave the aspect looks!
And wrapt in awe become, Oh, I
When reading Nature’s books.
Man’s life to him a problem dark
A screen both left and right;
No soul hath come to tell us what
Exists beyond our sight.
But then a voice, how deep and soft
Within ourselves is left;
Man! Man! Thou art immortal soul!
Thee Death can never melt.
For thee thy Sire on High has kept
A store of bliss above,
To end of time, thou art Oh! His
Who wants but purest love.
Oh Love! Thy power and spell benign
Now melt my soul to God;
How can my earthly words describe
That feeling soft and broad.
Enjoyment, sorrow, what but lots
To which the flesh is heir;
The soul that sleeps alone concludes
In them it hath a share.
And then, my friends, no more enjoy
Nor weep for all below;
The women, wine, and flesh of beasts
No love on thee bestow.
But thine to love thy brother man
And give thyself to God,
And God doth know your wages fair
This fact is true and broad.
Forget the past that sleeps and ne’er
The future dream at all;
But act in times that are with thee
And progress thee shall call.
But tell me not in reasoning cold,
The soul is made alone
By earth’s mechanic lifeless rules
And to destruction prone.
My God who gave us life and all
Alone the soul can kill,
Or give it all the joys above
His promise to fulfill.
So push thy onward march, O soul.
Against an evil deed
That stands with soldiers Hate and Lust
A hero be indeed.
Maintain thy post in spirit world
As firmly as you can;
Let never matter push thee down
O stand heroic man!
O Saragrahi Vaishnava soul,
Thou art an angel fair;
Lead, lead me on to Vridaban
And spirit’s power declare.
There rests my soul from matter free
Upon my Lover’s arms
Eternal peace and spirits love
Are all my chanting charms.

you are able to't attain god by mere communicate . we could continually do efforts from our area to be worth of his grace . we've not have been given any features with a view to realize god , yet while god showers his mercy , he himself famous his fact to us human beings . My recommendation to you would be to awaken early interior the morning , terrific time is around 4 am interior the morning . it truly is the fourth watch of nighttime & all religions in this international suggestion its followers to wake at this auspicious time , take tub & meditate on call of lord . alongside with this , we could continually do ' seva ' . with the aid of fact provider to guy is provider to god . it truly is the terrific we can do . After doing all this plenty for years , while a individual realises he nonetheless hasnt executed god , that individual will then pray from the very intensity of heart . That prayer is prevalent at that very 2d & soul will become one with god .
