What type of documentations do charities need?

It depends on what the charities are.

Most want money, but they can also can want equiptment and volunteers.
Most often, charities will have a "goal" sign saying what they are hoping they can get. Help them by giving at least $10. If you are really feeling generous, you might want to give $20, or $50.

Remember, you don't need to give that much. And every small bit counts.

It varies from country to country. In the USA, you have to file specific paperwork with your state and federal office for such; more info at the nonprofit FAQs, http://www.nonprofits.org

At *minimum*, an existing nonprofit should have its most recent annual report (a list of expenditures and income for one calendar year or one fiscal year), a list of its board of directors and their contact information, a stated budget for its fiscal or calendar year, and complete documentation for all income received and expenditures made in the current fiscal or calendar year.
