No, I am not planning on killing anyone. I have just heard that you take on someone else's sins if you kill them. I cannot find anything about it. Thought it might be something my grandmother passed on to her kids, etc.

I have studied religion and philosophy and have a degree in it, and NEVER heard anything like that. Its an interesting concept.

However, you might want to refer to "sin-eaters". These are people who willingly take on someone's sins so that they may find rest in the afterlife. I listed a GREAT article about it below. Give it a read.

The movie "The Order" is all about sin-eating. Also linked below.

Murdering someone is the ultimate sin, i believe.

Although i believe if you could indeed take on someone's sins by killing them i agree with the above poster ascribing to the belief of eating their still-beating hearts.

We all have enough sin in our lives to be condemned already. So taking on someone else's sin is unnecessary even if it were true.

No. Be at peace. You have enough sins of your own. You don't have to pay the penalty for someone else's sins (crimes against God)

That's not something that any major religion teaches.

Sounds like a well-intentioned way of comforting families of murder victims though "they went straight to heaven and God will see that the one who did it will pay - big time."

oh and no getting yourself murdered in an attempt to ensure an afterlife either!!!

Say if you killed a murderer etc. Then I say; An eye for an eye, it cancels it out.
